There you are, chaos. After what seemed like a sleepy start to Saturday, college football rang the alarm in Happy Valley and woke us all up when Penn State upended No. 2 Ohio State 24-21, altering what we thought we knew about the Big Ten pecking order.Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh doesnt even need his oversized glasses to see his Wolverines are now the team to beat.At least in the Big Ten.With the exception of the Buckeyes and Texas A&M, the remaining undefeated teams all won (Michigan, Nebraska, Washington, Alabama, West Virginia, Boise State, Western Michigan). Clemson and Baylor were both off. With six more weeks in the regular season, there is still plenty of time for more topsy-turvy results, but heres a look at five lessons learned on a week when Penn State found a way to flip the script:1. Ohio State must win out. The Buckeyes are down, but theyre not out. If they win out, that would include a home victory against Michigan, and Ohio State would have the head-to-head tiebreaker between the two one-loss teams. Theres no more margin for error, but its also important to remember that six of the past eight semifinalists had a loss, so its also the norm. The problem is, Ohio State still has to play undefeated West division front-runner Nebraska on Nov. 5, and theyve got to fix some problems offensively, as J.T. Barrett was sacked six times (five in the second half). Ohio State should also hope that West Virginia and Washington trip up to avoid being compared against an undefeated league champ.2. Texas A&M is a long shot. The Aggies chances of winning the SEC West are now highly improbable, and any hope of sneaking into the top four even as a one-loss team took a punch to the gut. Texas A&M now needs Alabama to lose twice in its final four games -- a very manageable lineup that includes a road trip to LSU on Nov. 5, followed by three straight home games against Mississippi State, Chattanooga and Auburn. Had it been a down-to-the-wire thriller, the selection committee likely would have considered an 11-1 Texas A&M team. Because the offense faltered in the second half, allowing Alabama to pull away, its unlikely the SEC gets two teams in now. The Aggies averaged just 1.5 yards per play during their final five drives of the game and scored zero points.3. Hello again, Louisville. While the SECs odds of getting two teams in the committees top four took a nosedive, the ACC might have boosted its chances with Louisvilles 54-13 dismantling of NC State. If Clemson runs the table and wins the ACC title, the Tigers are as close to a lock in the top four as you can get. Its impossible not to notice, though, how thoroughly dominant Louisville looked against a team Clemson was fortunate to beat at home last week, 24-17. The best-case scenario for the ACC to have two top-four teams is for Clemson to remain undefeated, which wont be easy with a trip to Florida State looming on Saturday. The Seminoles will also be another common opponent used to measure Clemson against Louisville, as the Cardinals caught the nations attention when they embarrassed FSU 63-20 on Sept. 17. Louisvilles résumé could be impacted, though, by Houstons loss to SMU. Houston was the only ranked opponent remaining on Louisvilles schedule. That game already lost its luster when Houston lost to Navy, but the loss to SMU could drop the Cougars from the Top 25 entirely.4. Its time to take West Virginia seriously. The Mountaineers legitimized their stance as a Big 12 title contender with their Week 7 win at Texas Tech, but with a convincing win over TCU on Saturday, they took it one step further and validated their spot in the College Football Playoff conversation. WVU is now 6-0 for the first time since 2006, and much of that success can be attributed to the defensive improvements. The Mountaineers have held their past two opponents to 27 combined points, including none by TCU in the second half on Saturday.5. Washington State still has major Pac-12 spoiler potential. Wazzu is not a playoff team -- not with losses to Eastern Washington and Boise State -- but its still undefeated in league play, which means if it wins out, it wins the North. Period. Even with one loss -- a distinct possibility considering a road trip to Colorado on Nov. 19 -- the division title would come down to the Apple Cup. If the Cougars can pull off the upset, the entire Pac-12 could be left out of the playoff -- again. Wholesale China Jerseys . Inter president Erick Thohir says in a club statement on Wednesday that Vidic is "one of the worlds best defenders and his qualities, international pedigree, and charisma will be an asset. At a news conference Tuesday where it was thought that the fiery Schallibaum may be shown the door after a dismal finish to the Major League Soccer season, team president Joey Saputo said no decision has been made on whether the Swiss Volcano will be back in 2014. Cheap NFL Jerseys Free Shipping . Manuel was offered a position the day he was fired. He accepted earlier this week and the team made the announcement Friday. Stitched NFL Jerseys . The Barrie Colts defenceman, who impressed many with his play for Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship, is the top-ranked skater in the February rankings. He has 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 points in 45 games with the Colts this season. Ill make this clear before anyone begins to get too upset: Bullying and hazing have no place in organized sports, or in civil society for that matter. On that Im sure we can all -- at least most of us -- agree. The combination has ruined many lives, and wed all be better off without it.That said, Im still finding it hard to imagine who brought this up when negotiators for Major League Baseball and the players union got together at the bargaining table for their new contract .Uh, guys, weve been getting some complaints lately that players have had to dress up like women. Some have even put on lipstick, and badly. Before we get to free agency and the minimum wage, Id like to propose some new contract language that bans players from dressing up as Hooters waitresses or Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. To be sure, its not such a bad thing. If youve ever seen a grown baseball player in a dress and wig, youd quickly realize most are no RuPaul. Fellow players might find it funny, but locker room humor isnt always that humorous.Still, you have to wonder why baseball players seem to have such a need to be protected from everything these days. They cant slide hard into second base anymore for fear of either hurting themselves or the $20 million-a-year shortstop. No collisions allowed at home plate, either, because someone watched an old film clip of Pete Rose running over Ray Fosse in the 1970 All-Star Game.Dont even think of violating a pitch count, or a new-age manager like Dave Roberts of the Dodgers will head to the mound with a hook even when a pitcher (Rich Hill) is throwing a perfect game. And, of course, soon they wont be able to spit tobacco all over the turf, something thats been around in baseball for well over a century and helped popularize the spitball in the old days.Whats next, a ban on shaving cream pies in the eye after game-winning RBI? They can sting a bit, you know, and who can say there wont be permanent eye damage?Sometimes, these big bruising multimillionaires just look like babies. Actually, they did last year when manager Joe Maddon had his Cubs wear pajamas on the flight home from a tough 1-0 loss to the Dodgers in Los Angeles. That surely will be banned, too, especially after the newspaper headline the next morning in Chicago after pitcher John Lester was seen walking from the clubhouse in a onesie and cowboy boots.ddddddddddddCubs sent home in their pajamas after series spanking by Dodgers, it read. Some of the rationale for the new rule is that what happens in the clubhouse doesnt stay in the clubhouse anymore. Thats largely because of social media, which the players themselves can sometimes use carelessly. What is supposed to be a gag among 25 guys doesnt look so funny when its spread on Instagram or Twitter.Theres lots of pictures of baseball players dressed up as Disney princesses, MLB Vice President Paul Mifsud said.Theres also a picture of Mike Trout dressed as Lady Gaga in a 2011 rookie hazing that still circulates online. Trout seems to be taking it in good spirits, but you have to wonder if he will one day regret he didnt get to be a Disney princess instead.Yes, the line should be drawn at outright bullying and hazing. Richie Incognitos bullying of Jonathan Martin when the two were teammates on the Miami Dolphins highlighted the ugly and very real consequences of such behavior. But Im not sure that grown men getting paid millions of dollars to play sports need protection against everything. And while having rookies don cheerleader outfits or princess costumes may be a bit embarrassing and not politically correct, its probably not going to scar anybody for life. Not everything can be legislated, and not everything can be negotiated. Ballplayers will sometimes just be ballplayers, and thats part of their appeal. They scratch and spit, and do things sometimes that youd rather not see your kids doing. But then you watch them jumping all over each other after winning a World Series and realize that underneath it all theyre a lot like kids, too, only bigger.Oh, wait, no more jumping around. Someone might get hurt.A polite handshake will have to suffice.----Tim Dahlberg is a national sports columnist for The Associated Press.
