SAN JOSE, Calif. Nike Air Force 1 Clearance Sale . -- The San Jose Sharks re-signed defenceman Jason Demers to a one-year contract Thursday to prevent him from becoming a restricted free agent next month. Demers is the fourth potential free agent re-signed by the Sharks this month before the free agency period begins July 5. San Jose signed potential unrestricted free agent Raffi Torres to a $6 million, three-year deal, and reached deals Wednesday with pending restricted free agent forwards James Sheppard and Andrew Desjardins. Demers, 25, had one goal and two assists in 22 games last season as he was hampered by a variety of injuries, including a broken wrist sustained during the lockout that cost him the first six games of the season. Demers played just one playoff game after spraining his ankle late in the regular season. "Hes a player that obviously weve seen in the playoffs in the past," general manager Doug Wilson said. "When hes healthy hes a puck-moving guy who really fits how we want to play. ... Hes just a player that we really like. Just needs to be healthy and have a great summer of training and come back and play at a level hes capable of. He brings an element that we certainly like in our game." The deal with Demers gives San Jose seven defenceman under contract already for next season, not including Brent Burns, who moved to forward midway through the season. Burns excelled after the switch and provided a spark that helped lead San Jose from out of playoff position all the way to Game 7 of the second round against Los Angeles before falling to the Kings. Wilson said he would talk with coach Todd McLellan next week and make a decision on where Burns would play next season. "Its a great luxury to have," Wilson said. "That decision is upcoming." The Sharks also re-signed minor league forward Brodie Reid to a one-year contract. Reid had 10 goals and 11 assists in 34 games last season while dealing with an injured shoulder for Worcester of the AHL. "Were really high on him," Wilson said. "He has natural, great hands. Hes a goal scorer. ... We dont think hes that far from being able to play." San Jose still has one more potential restricted free agent in forward TJ Galiardi. Forwards Scott Gomez and Tim Kennedy, defenceman Scott Hannan, and backup goalies Thomas Greiss and Alex Stalock are among the potential unrestricted free agents. Cheap Nike Air Force 1 Ireland . The 20-year-old Pelicans big man glanced up and smiled widely at the well-wishers -- a fitting end to a day he wont soon forget. Davis responded to his selection earlier in the day as a Western Conference All-Star with 26 points and 10 rebounds, and the New Orleans Pelicans overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 98-91 on Friday night. (January 11, 2014) – Once again Kevin Martin proved why he is the all-time TSN skins leader, winning $11,500 in prize money and a spot in the Travelers All-Star Curling Skins Game presented by Pintys final following a semifinal victory over Brad Jacobs earlier this evening at the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre in Banff, Alta.ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Mike Aviles had a nice sacrifice bunt in the sixth inning that didnt result in any runs. One inning later he swung away with great results. Aviles hit a three-run homer during a five-run seventh, Corey Kluber went 6 2-3 effective innings, and the Cleveland Indians stopped a seven-game road losing streak by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3 on Friday night. "Mikey always plays the game," Indians manager Terry Francona said. Cleveland got solo homers from Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Brantley. Kluber (3-3) allowed two runs, nine hits and had nine strikeouts. Jake Odorizzi struck out a career-high 11 and gave up five hits in five shutout innings for the Rays, who have lost six straight at home. "Its just bittersweet that we couldnt pull it out," Odorizzi said. The Indians were 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position against Odorizzi. "It was hard to get things going early in the game," Aviles said. "We werent able to get that big hit when we needed it. We were able to get it later in the game." Brantley homered off Joel Peralta (1-3) before Yan Gomes hit an RBI single and Aviles had his three-run shot off Brandon Gomes as the Indians went ahead 6-2 in the seventh. "The game score didnt really reflect the way the game was played for the most part," Francona said. "We put together one really good inning." For the fourth straight game, the Rays staged a serious ninth-inning threat. David DeJesus had an RBI double off John Axford with two outs that made it 6-3. Ben Zobrist then walked to load the bases, ending Axfords night. Cody Allen entered and got a fly ball from James Loney on a 3-2 pitch for his first save. "Its a crazy game," DeJesus said. Cabrera, coming off a four-hit game in Thursdays 9-4 victory over Minnesota, had a leadoff homer off Brad Boxberger in the sixth that pulled the Indians within 2-1. Cabrera finished with three hits and a walk. After Loney hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth, DeJesus put the Rays up 2-0 on a fifth-inning RBI double. "Primarily, we have not hit," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "I mean, you look at the bullpen and we had one bad inning tonight, but weve scored 10 runs in the last four games." Rays shortstop Yunel Escobar left after the second inning with a bruised right thumb and is day to day. X-rays were negative. Maddons challenge of a double play in the first inning resulted in the call being overturned when a video review determined that Zobrist beat the relay throw at first.
