Opposites will attract when the second-seeded Oregon Ducks kickoff against the fourth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes in the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship game tonight. Cheap Wholesale Adidas Shoes . The winner of this matchup will become the least questioned national champion in the history of NCAA football and first to win after a four-team playoff. The National Championship had previously been decided between two teams with the highest BCS ranking. You can catch the game live on TSN1, TSN3, TSN4, TSN5, TSN GO and the TSN Radio Network, beginning with the pregame show underway now. You can also catch bonus Spider Cam and Command Centre cameras on TSN GO beginning at 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt. Command Centre will provide enhanced statistics utilizing a split screen application with live game action and immediate replays of every play. On one side of the field will be the Ducks, a team led by college football’s best player in 2014, quarterback Marcus Mariota, and in search of their first national title. Standing in their way is Ohio State, winners of four previous national titles, but entering this year’s championship behind a quarterback starting just his third-career game. Oregon defeated 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston and the Florida State Seminoles 59-20 on New Year’s Day to set up their date in the final, while Ohio State recovered from a 21-6 second-quarter deficit to stun the top-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide 42-35 in the Sugar Bowl. With their Sugar Bowl win, the Buckeyes silenced their many doubters and proved they deserved to be in the inaugural playoff. Alabama proved to be just the latest obstacle in the unlikely championship run for the Big Ten champions. The Buckeyes, who entered the year as a favourite to reach the playoff, seemed to have their hopes diminished with the loss of starting quarterback Braxton Miller to a shoulder injury prior to the season. However, redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett emerged as a star in Urban Meyer’s offence and managed to keep the Buckeyes in contention for a national title. Barrett struggled in Ohio State’s lone loss of the season – 35-21 to unranked Virginia Tech – but recovered to march the Buckeyes from their 22nd-ranking after the loss to sixth entering the final week of the regular season. Against Michigan in that final week, Barrrett ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as he continued to electrify fans with his play. That is, until disaster struck Ohio State again. While scrambling in the third quarter, Barrett suffered a broken ankle, ending his breakout season. Third-string quarterback Cardale Jones entered in his place and the Buckeyes used a run-heavy approach to close out the Wolverines. Like Barrett, Jones also presents a rushing risk for defences. Jones has averaged 5.1 yards per carry on 51 runs this season. He has yet to rush for a touchdown. Jones made his first career start one week later in the Big Ten Championship Game against Wisconsin and threw three touchdowns as the Buckeyes won in a 59-0 rout. Jones had 257 yards through the air and received help from running back Ezekiel Elliott, who rushed for 220 yards as the Buckeyes’ win allowed them to jump past TCU for the fourth, and final, playoff spot. Jones’s second career start proved to be a tougher matchup against the Crimson Tide, but the redshirt sophomore passed for 243 yards with a touchdown and interception as the Buckeyes earned the upset win. Elliott again played a key role, adding a Sugar Bowl-record 230 yards rushing with two touchdowns. In his third time out, Jones will be in the spotlight once again as Ohio State tries for their fifth National Championship in school history. Meyer will look to give Jones as much help as possible as he looks for his first title since joining Ohio State in 2012, but neither Jones nor Elliott figures to have an easy matchup against the Ducks defence. Oregon has held opponents to 20 points or fewer in four-straight contests. For Oregon, there are no questions at quarterback with Heisman winner Mariota under centre. The redshirt junior has thrown for over 4,100 yards with 40 touchdowns this season, while adding another 15 scores on the ground. Mariota, the unquestioned MVP and leader of Oregon, threw for over 300 yards against Florida State and added three total touchdowns to make up for throwing just his third interception of the year in the win over the defending champions of a year ago. Mariota’s dual-threat ability caused headaches for opposing defences throughout the season, while he compiled over 700 yards on the ground. Not surprisingly, Oregon’s lone loss came as Mariota put up his lowest yardage total of the year. Mariota will be without two of his top receivers in the national championship in Darren Carrington and Devon Allen. Carrington has been suspended for a failed drug test, while Allen suffered a knee injury in the Rose Bowl. In early October, Arizona stunned the Ducks with an upset 31-24 victory, while holding Mariota to just one rushing yard on nine tries. Playing behind three backups in his offensive line, Mariota was unable to lead a game-tying drive after Arizona took the lead with just under three minutes left. With the loss, the Ducks dropped from second to 12th in the AP rankings. Yet, Oregon recovered to reel off eight-straight wins to enter the College Football Playoff as the second seed. That run included a 51-13 rout of Arizona in the Pac-12 Championship Game as Mariota put the final touch on his Heisman year with a five-touchdown performance. Mariota, the likely top pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, will now try to become the seventh Heisman winner since 1996 - and second straight - to win the national championship in his trophy season. He will also be looking to – likely – end his Oregon career with his 36th win as the school’s starter. Mariota has lost just four games in three seasons with the Ducks. Trying to make his history of his own with Ohio State, will be Meyer. The former University of Florida head coach is looking to become the second coach in history to win a National Championship with two separate schools. In that category, Meyer is looking to join Alabama head coach Nick Saban, who he defeated in the Sugar Bowl. Saban won the National Championship with LSU before winning three more titles with Alabama. Meyer coached the Gators to national titles in both 2006 and 2008. He debuted with Ohio State in 2012. Not surprisingly given the quarterback situation of each team, Oregon enters this matchup as six-point favourites. Being underdogs is, of course, a trend of late for the Buckeyes, who will look for their third-straight upset win with Jones at quarterback. The two schools have met on eight previous occasions with Ohio State sweeping the series to date. Adidas Wholesale China .com) - The Atlanta Hawks have stepped up to every challenge during their 14-game winning streak and will face another daunting task Friday with Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder in town. http://www.wholesaleadidasshoes.com/ . The defeat leaves the 41-year-old Nestor to concentrate on the mixed-doubles event after winning 12 straight matches and winning Australian titles in Brisbane and Sydney with two different partners. "This was a little bit of a let down, but all credit to them," said Nestor.A generation of fans have never seen the Kansas City Royals play a postseason game. Thatll change on Tuesday when the Royals host the Oakland Athletics in the American League wild card game at Kauffman Stadium. There have been 713 playoff games contested in Major League Baseball since Kansas City beat the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 of the 1985 World Series. None of those games, though, have involved the Royals, who return to the playoffs for the first time in 29 years. Kansas City ended the year 89-73, just one game back of the American League Central champion Detroit Tigers. The Royals actually had a chance to force a playoff game for a division title with a win and Detroit loss on the final day of the regular season, but the Tigers won their game against Minnesota to lock up the title. When I went into Spring Training, I felt like 90 wins would have a good chance of winning the division and we got 89 and, of course, Detroit got 90 and I was right, Kansas City manager Ned Yost said. (Our players) are still ready for the challenge ahead. There have been teams that have won the World Series from the wild card game and they know that. Thanks to a terrific starting staff and a mighty effort from the bullpen, the 89 victories by the Royals were the most since they won 92 in 1989. Kansas Citys bullpen trio of Greg Holland, Kelvin Herrera and Wade Davis is truly a formidable force, having combined for a 1.28 ERA and 258 strikeouts in 205 1/3 innings in the regular season. That makes life a whole lot easier for Tuesday starter James Shields, who certainly earned his Big Game moniker down the stretch, as Kansas City won four of the right-handers five starts in September. Shields also pitched to a 2.31 ERA in the final month, his second-lowest monthly mark behind the 1.60 ERA he posted in April. This is what its all about, said Shields, who ended the year 14-8 with a 3.21 ERA. This is what playoff baseball is all about. Youve got to push aside some of your aches and pains and go after it. Shields is no stranger to the postseason, having appeared in six games for the Tampa Bay Rays and has gone 2-4 with a 4.98 ERA. When I came over here, I knew exactly what was going on, said Shields. I knew that this citys been wanting a championship team for a long time, and a playoff team. Hopefully we did the city proud. Weve got a long way to go still, but were going to keep grinding. Oakland, meanwhile, is very lucky to be in this position, as it was one of the worst teams in baseball after the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline that saw the Athletics acquire left-hander Jon Lester from Boston for slugger Yoenis Cespedes. Starting with a series loss in Kansas City from Aug. 11-14, the As dropped eight of their final 14 series and 30 of their last 46 games. But thanks to a remarkable first half, they ended the year, 88-74 In fact, Oaklands post-All-Star break winning percentage of .433 is the lowest in MLB history for a team that reached the postseason. We went through some real challenges this year, but those things can make you tougher, too, Oakland manager Bob Mellvin said. Cheap Adidas Shoes Online. Its a relief off everyones shoulders that were here now, took the journey that we did. Were in, and I know Im going to sleep better tonight. While the Royals are appearing in their first postseason game in decades, the As are back in the playoffs for the third straight year and for the 26th time in franchise history. Only the New York Yankees (51), Los Angeles Dodgers (28) and St. Louis Cardinals (27) have been to the postseason more. Ive been saying the last two weeks, if we get in, the last two months would be forgotten. And now I can say that with confidence, said Josh Reddick. All the naysayers and the negative vibes, theyre all gone now. We got in. Ive been saying it for months -- two division titles, out Game 5, get in with the wild card, Win the whole thing. Oaklands struggles may be traced back to the Lester deal, but he certainly cant be blamed. The left-hander is probably the main reason the As were able to hold on, as he went 10-7 after the deal with a 2.52 ERA. We had Jon targeted for this, said Melvin. Thats why you have a guy like that. When he takes the mound, the teams going to feel awfully good about their chances. Plus Lester has owned the Royals over the course of his career, going 9-3 with a 1.84 ERA in 13 career starts against them, including 3-0 with a 2.61 ERA in three outings against them this season. And he no-hit the Royals in 2008. Lester owns one of the most impressive postseason resumes around, going 6-4 with a 2.11 ERA in 11 starts and two relief appearances in October. That includes two starts in the World Series last year in which he allowed one earned run in 15 1/3 innings. Hes the top pitcher in the game right now to have in that spot, Reddick added. Weve all seen what hes done with the Red Sox. Weve got nothing but confidence in him. After 2,001 big league games, Oakland slugger Adam Dunn, who was picked up in an August deal with Chicago, will play in his first postseason game on Tuesday. He had held the distinction of being the active player with the most career games without a postseason appearance. To be honest with you, its what you work for your whole career and I dont know how fair it is that I get there with the fruits of their labor, but beggars cant be choosers, said Dunn, who joined the As on Sept. 1. Im happy. Kansas Citys nearly historic bullpen went 72-1 in the regular season when leading after seven innings and 79-1 when leading after eight. The As, meanwhile, led the majors with 13 wins when trailing after seven and eight wins when trailing after eight. I think its a similar matchup, said As shortstop Jed Lowrie. They have a really strong bullpen, I think we do, too, and its going to be two frontline starters pitching for one big game. It should be a good game. The As and Royals have met once in the playoffs -- in the 1981 AL Division Series, which Oakland swept, 3-0. The Royals, though, won five of the seven regular season matchups this year. Tuesdays winner will face the AL West champion Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the ALDS beginning on Thursday.
