The Edmonton Oilers are winless on the young season and will be hard pressed to get on the board against the Los Angeles Kings with two regulars out of the lineup tonight. Marquel Lee Jersey . Head coach Dallas Eakins told reporters Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will not play for the Oilers against LA. Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins missed practice Monday with undisclosed injuries. Neither injury is thought to be serious. Oilers fans will get their first look at Darnell Nurse however, as the rookie will make his NHL debut tonight. The Kings meanwhile, aim to secure their second victory of the season and seventh in a row over the Oilers. The Oilers are winless on the young season, losing their home opener to Calgary on Thursday before suffering a 5-4 shootout setback to Vancouver on Saturday. Edmonton failed to hold a trio of two-goal leads, including a 2-0 advantage in the first period, and allowed the game-tying goal at the 7:06 mark of the third frame. Viktor Fasth, who ended with 39 saves, was then beaten by Chris Higgins for the lone shootout tally. We played good during most parts of the game, said Fasth. We got a lot of penalties today. Its a tough team to beat when youre spending that much time in the box. Defenseman Brad Hunt scored his first NHL goal and Mark Arcobello added another first-period tally for the Oilers, while Nail Yakupov also scored and Jesse Joensuu tallied shorthanded. Teddy Purcell and David Perron both had two assists for Edmonton. Purcell, though, was one of three Edmonton players to not skate on Monday along with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle. All three are day-to-day as head coach Dallas Eakins termed them banged up. The Oilers, who visit Arizona on Thursday, did recall forward Bogdan Yakimov from the minors, so there appears a chance at least one of those skaters could miss tonights game. It is unknown if Fasth or Ben Scrivens will start for Edmonton in net. Fasth is 1-3-0 with a 2.97 GAA and .906 save percentage in four meetings with the Kings. Scrivens, meanwhile, began last season with the Kings before getting traded to the Oilers following the emergence of Jones. He has faced Los Angeles just once before and stopped 46-of-50 shots faced in a loss. The Kings began defense of their Stanley Cup championship with losses to San Jose and Arizona (overtime) before rolling past the Winnipeg Jets 4-1 on Sunday. Tyler Toffoli, Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter and Tanner Pearson lit the lamp for the Kings, while Martin Jones made 29 saves in his first start of the season. I thought we did a good job in front of both nets actually, said Jones. They did a good job of getting bodies and throwing pucks towards the net and we always seemed to come up with the puck in front of our net and in front of their net too, and bang, a couple goals. The Kings won the opener of a six-game homestand and have claimed four straight and six of their past seven as the host against the Oilers. They also won all four meetings last season and have taken 12 of the last 15 encounters overall. Jonathan Quick figures to face the Oilers tonight in net and has an excellent 11-1-4 mark against them in 16 starts, posting a 1.53 goals against average and .940 save percentage. First, the Red Wings scored the tying goal after officials missed the puck hitting the protective netting, then the Kings wound up losing in a shootout. That could affect playoff positioning in the Eastern and Western Conferences, and thats a concern for everyone.Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Having just handedly taken down Xavier, the Butler Bulldogs will look to try and ride a wave of momentum as they face the 21st-ranked Seton Hall Pirates in a Big East Conference bout at the Prudential Center. Butler beat Xavier with relative ease, 88-76, on Saturday to improve to 12-5 on the season with a 2-2 mark in conference play. The win over Xavier came just days after a loss to Providence (66-62), while the Musketeers took down Seton Hall (69-58). Seton Hall suffered that loss to Xavier last Wednesday, which ended the teams three-game win streak. The Pirates rebounded nicely on Saturday with a tight 68-67 victory over Creighton on the road to push the teams record to 13-3 and 3-1 in conference. Seton Hall is a perfect 8-0 at home in 2014-15. This clash will be just the fourth in the all-time series between Butler and Seton Hall. The Bulldogs own a 2-1 record over the Pirates. The sides met all three times last year, as Butler won both regular-season matches, before the Pirates took one in the Big East Tournament. Xavier boasts the best scoring offense in the Big East Conference this season, but the Bulldogs made sure the Musketeers wouldnt be the ones shooting the lights out on Saturday. Butler connected on 48.1 percent of its shots in the game, which included a 64 percent shooting touch in the second half that allowed the Bulldogs to bury their foes. Andrew Chrabascz tallied 19 points to lead the team in scoring, while Kameron Woods notched a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Roosevelt Jones added 16 points, Alex Barlow chipped in with 15 and Kellen Dunham contributed 10 points. He scored the fewwest number of points out of any other starter Saturday for Butler, but Dunham still comes into Tuesdays matchup leading the team in the scoring category at 16. Kyle Wilber Jersey. 6 ppg on 44.3 percent shooting. For an offense that broke out against Xavier for 88 points, the Bulldogs are still netting just 70.9 ppg this season. The only other player on the team with a double-digit scoring average headed into Tuesday is Jones, who is netting 11.6 ppg. Woods chips in a team-best and conference-best 9.1 rpg mark, and Joness 4.1 apg is the highest total in the category for the Bulldogs. Sterling Gibbs, who has been known to play the role of hero for Seton Hall in the past, was up to his old tricks again on Saturday, as the junior buried a 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds to play against Creighton that lifted his Pirates past the Bluejays by a single point. Seton Hall shot just 9-of-26 from 3-point range in the win, with Gibbss biggest shot coming at the very end. Gibbs led the team in scoring with 22 points in the win, while Khadeen Carrington chipped in with 11 points for the Pirates. Brandon Mobley pulled down a team- high 13 rebounds in the win. Seton Hall comes into Tuesdays matchup scoring almost the exact same number of points on average as the Bulldogs. The Pirates check in at 70.6 ppg this season, and are allowing opponents to net just 61.7 ppg on 39.7 percent shooting from the floor. Gibbs has been sensational in his junior season, averaging 16.4 ppg and adding in 63 assists to lead the Pirates. Isaiah Whitehead (11.9 ppg) and Mobley (10.0 ppg) round out a trio of double-digit scorers for Seton Hall. Angel Delgado leads the squad with an 8.7 rpg mark.
