TAMPA https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Damarious-Randall-Jersey , Fla. (AP) — Hue Jackson figured there was no way the Cleveland Browns were going to lose. Not on a 59-yard field goal in overtime. The coach was surprised the Tampa Bay Buccaneers even gave Chandler Catanzaro the opportunity, risking giving his team a shot to win with time running down in the extra period.“I said there was no way he’d make that, and he did,” Jackson said Sunday. “So they won.”The longest ever kick in OT barely cleared the cross bar, ending Tampa Bay’s three-game losing streak.Catanzaro missed an extra point in the first half and watched a potential game-winning 40-yard field goal sail wide right on the final play of regulation.“I stuck to my same routine. The most important thing is not to try to change things too much,” Catanzaro said. “I know I just left the first kick out there a little bit to the right, and I just needed to trust it. So, that’s what I told myself.”The Bucs recovered Jabrill Peppers‘ fumble on a punt return near midfield, and Jameis Winston shrugged off sacks on consecutive plays before throwing 14 yards to DeSean Jackson to give Catanzaro a chance to win it.The kicker was confident he would redeem himself.“I think it’s part of my DNA. I’ve always kind of found a way to bounce back,” Catanzaro said. “I rarely miss two in a row. Even if it’s from 59, I was just looking for a shot. If it was from 66, I would have tried it.”Baker Mayfield rallied the Browns (2-4-1) from a 14-point deficit, using Nick Chubb’s 1-yard TD and a 16-yard scoring throw to Jarvis Landry to pull even. The No. 1 overall draft pick completed 23 of 34 passes for 215 yards, two TDs and no interceptions. The Browns defense scored a safety, forced four turnovers and sacked Winston four times. It wasn’t quite enough to get Cleveland over the hump in its fourth overtime game of the season.“It’s very frustrating any time you lose, especially because you could have done a lot of things better. That seems to be the moral of the season,” Mayfield said, adding that he also was surprised the Bucs went for the 59-yarder at the end.“I’m thinking if he doesn’t make it, we’re getting the ball at midfield, we have less than 20 yards until our kicker is in comfortable reaching distance,” the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner said. “That’s a great kick. You don’t see that very often.”Some things to know about the Browns and Buccaneers:WORKING OTCleveland has played four overtime games this season — most for a team since Arizona won all four it played in 2011, and tied for second-most in NFL history. The record is five in a season, set by Green Bay in 1983.The Browns, 1-2-1 in OT this year, don’t have a road victory since winning in overtime at Baltimore on Oct. 11, 2015.The Detroit Lions also dropped 24 in a row away from home from 2001-03.The next opportunity to end the skid is next Sunday at Pittsburgh.BETTER ‘DTampa Bay stopped a three-game losing streak that cost former defensive coordinator Mike Smith his job last week. The Bucs entered Sunday allowing a league-worst 34.6 points per game, ranked 31st in total defense, and dead last against the pass. They sacked Mayfield five times and allowed a season-low 305 yards in their debut under Smith’s replacement, former linebackers coach Mark Duffner.“Every win is different, but this one felt good,” defensive end Carl Nassib said.INCREASED WORKLOADCleveland’s decision to trade leading rusher Carolos Hyde to Jacksonville for a fifth-round draft choice was driven by a desire to give rookie Nick Chubb more touches and also get Duke Johnson Darren Fells Jersey , one of the team’s top playmakers, more involved.Chubb, who came in averaging 10.8 yards per carry, finished with 80 yards rushing on 18 attempts. He was targeted twice on passes, but did not have a catch.“I thought he did well,” Jackson said, noting the rookie also had one big gainer called back because of one of 14 penalties assessed the Browns.“We had way too many penalties … offensively and defensively,” the coach said. “We have got to get that squared away.”FAMOUS JAMEISWinston completed 32 of 52 passes for 365 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in his first home start since returning from serving a three-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct penalty. He also led the Bucs in rushing with 55 yards on 10 attempts, including a 14-yard TD run to make it 16-2 midway through the second quarter.“It’s huge to get a big win, especially here (at home),” Winston said. “This is a tough league, so you get a win any way you possibly can get it. We can play better, especially myself. But when you win, everything is better.” Baker Mayfield won't forget what happened between him and Kliff Kingsbury. Some scars remain. However, it appears the Browns quarterback has forgiven one of his former college coaches.“It’s in the past,” Mayfield said Wednesday of his issues when he played at Texas Tech for Kingsbury, Arizona's first-year coach. “What happened happened, and we move forward.”With the Browns (6-7) set to play against the Cardinals (3-9-1) this Sunday, Mayfield was asked to dredge up some old hostilities between him and Kingsbury, who may be indirectly responsible for Mayfield winning a Heisman Trophy and becoming a No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft. For a long time, Mayfield carried a grudge against Kingsbury. He's fumbled it.“It’s a long time ago,” Mayfield said following practice. “We’ve talked since, played against him a few times since and so it’s exactly that, we’re in a good place. Obviously he’s trying to beat me this week, I’m trying to beat him.”But any perceived hatred between the pair has been replaced by a healthy respect.Mayfield was a walk-on at Texas Tech when Kingsbury, who starred as a QB at the school, was one of college football's rising coaching stars. Their strong relationship became fractured after Mayfield got hurt during his freshman season in 2013 and Kingsbury reopened the quarterback competition before the team played in a bowl game.Their communication problems, along with Mayfield saying he was told that Texas Tech had no plans of offering him a scholarship, drove him to Oklahoma, where he thrived. Mayfield rewrote record books over three seasons with the Sooners and became a trash-talking T. J. Carrie Color Rush Jersey , touchdown-throwing household name.Looking back, both Mayfield and Kingsbury said their feud could have been avoided. Both also feel their relationship is now OK.What happened happened and it was unfortunate,” Kingsbury said on a conference call with Cleveland reporters. “I obviously wish it would’ve been different and I could’ve handled things differently. But you move forward and I’ve been proud of his success, and what all he’s accomplished.”Mayfield, who has had an uneven second season as a pro, has always used past personal beefs, slights or criticism as motivation. He walks around with a bag of chips on his shoulder.Whether it's a defensive player, opposing coach, taunting fan, critical media member or anyone who has doubted him, Mayfield turns any negativity to fuel his fire. It's made him who he is.“He’s really competitive and he’s been pretty much doubted his entire life and he’s used that as motivation and used it successfully,” Kingsbury said. “So I don’t really know why he would change. I’m sure people are going to love you, they’re going to hate you regardless of how you motivate yourself, but it works for him and he’s proved people wrong at every level.”Over the past few years, Kingsbury and Mayfield were able to work through some of their differences with conversations at numerous events. They even spent time together at this year's Kentucky Derby.Kingsbury said those opportunities have helped them better understand each other and brought them to where they are now.“He and I never really had a negative face-to-face type confrontation or anything of that nature,” Kingsbury said. "It was just a deal that that happened and I think we both had a certain amount of respect for each other and what we’re about and who we are. And sometimes it just takes time to get back to that point.”While Kingsbury couldn't have forecast Mayfield's rise from two-time walk-on to franchise quarterback, the Browns QB said he always felt the coach was destined to make the leap to the NFL.Kingsbury took the "Air Raid” offense he ran while playing for Mike Leach at Texas Tech, made some tweaks and now the fast-paced, multiple-receivers system can be seen all over the pro game.“He is a brilliant offensive mind,” Mayfield said. "Players love playing for him. I know that just from personal experience obviously, and they adapt to what he does.”Mayfield's strong compliment of Kingsbury almost seemed out of character for the 24-year-old, whose outspokenness has been a problem. As recently as Sunday's post-game news conference, he created controversy when he questioned the Browns' medical staff's handling of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.'s groin injury.Mayfield knows he's still got some growing up to do, and that maybe mending fences in talking with Kingsbury helped him mature."Those are conversations that we have had and so we have both acknowledged that an 18-year old Baker was not the all-knowing that he thought he was, and just having a conversation goes a long way,” he said.NOTES: Mayfield said he talked with people “in the building” he may have offended with his remarks about Beckham's injury and is confident things have been cleared up. ... As for Beckham, whose future in Cleveland has become uncertain, Mayfield said he's heard the rumors the receiver wants out, "but I have had my conversations with him and I know what we talk about so I trust him wholeheartedly.”

summer before ultimately choosing to stick with the status quo.Mason Crosby is on the 53-man roster that the team unveiled on Sunday afternoon and Sam Ficken is headed for the waiver wire. Ficken hit all six kicks he tried during the preseason and could draw some interest around the league. As previously reported https://www.thepackersfanshop.com , the Packers opted to cut DeShone Kizer and they also waived Manny Wilkins, which leaves Tim Boyle as the only quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers. They also waived or released safeties Tray Matthews and Natrell Jamerson; cornerbacks Nydair Rouse, Jocquez Kalili, Jackson Porter and Kabion Ento; linebackers Brady Sheldon, Curtis Bolton, James Folston, Randy Ramsey and Markus Jones; offensive linemen Anthony Coyle, Gerhard de Beer, Dejon Allen, Yosh Nijman and Adam Pankey; tight ends Pharaoh McKever and Evan Baylis; wide receivers Teo Redding, Malik Taylor Green Bay Packers Customized Jerseys , J’Mon Moore and Allen Lazard; fullbacks Tommy Bohanon and Malcolm Johnson; running backs Tra Carson and Keith Ford.Wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown has been placed on injured reserve and won’t return this season. Safety Ibraheim Campbell and linebacker Greg Roberts have been placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. When a head coach gets fired during an NFL season, it’s as much about the culture of his team as it is about performance. That was the case in Green Bay, which in a move almost as stunning as its feeble showing against Arizona on Sunday, Mike McCarthy was canned. The same McCarthy who was 125-77-2 in almost 13 seasons at the helm. The same McCarthy who guided the Packers to the 2010 championship. The same McCarthy who helped nurture Aaron Rodgers into a seeming shoo-in for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.Yet, with what the Packers have become recently and where they appeared headed at 4-7-1 in a season when NFC wild-card berths are up for grabs, it probably was the correct move to let McCarthy go.The offense, even with Rodgers, has stagnated. The secondary, as it is pretty much every year, is ravaged by injuries. The offensive line is a mess more often than it is a plus. And the skills of one of the great quarterbacks of his era — an era when offense is paramount for success — are being wasted.Team president Mark Murphy in a statement said the 2018 season “has not lived up to the expectations and standards of the Green Bay Packers. As a result, I made the difficult decision to relieve Mike McCarthy of his role as head coach Green Bay Packers T-Shirts , effective immediately.”“Mike has been a terrific head coach and leader of the Packers for 13 seasons, during which time we experienced a great deal of success on and off the field,” Murphy said.True. McCarthy also might find himself employed running another team in need of developing a quarterback (Jets? Buccaneers? Browns?) in 2019. For now, though, with the Packers severely underachieving and McCarthy unable to find answers against strong opponents or weak ones, his departure made sense.“We haven’t played very well,” Rodgers said before being told McCarthy was fired. “We all take part in the disappointments and the failures that we’ve had this season. We’ve had a number of opportunities. It’s not like we’re getting blown out in a bunch of games. We’re in games.“I hate to repeat myself, but it’s applicable. … We’re not executing the right way.”Rodgers has never started a game for another coach, and he deserves some input into who replaces McCarthy. Whoever that might be, the least of his problems is quarterback, barring more injuries to Rodgers https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/hats , who turned 35 on Sunday. Rodgers should have a few excellent years left. The deeper problems in Green Bay stem from years of injuries to key players, particularly on defense, that approach an epidemic. Is players’ health not being vetted properly before they join the team? Are they not diagnosed or treated properly when they get hurt? Is it bad luck? The Packers probably need to look into adding some talent through free agency before Rodgers is past his prime. That’s rarely been the approach on the tundra — yes, we know about Reggie White and Julius Peppers — but with Ted Thompson no longer the general manager, perhaps the thinking will change. In the NFC North, where Chicago is on the rise and Minnesota has more overall talent than Green Bay, a quick infusion of talent is essential. It would be somewhat ironic if McCarthy surfaced in Cleveland to work with Baker Mayfield. The Browns are the only other team to fire its head man thus far, and it would be surprising if Browns GM John Dorsey, who formerly worked for the Packers, isn’t interested. The Jets, who lost their sixth in a row in ignominious fashion at Tennessee on Sunday Green Bay Packers Hoodie , almost certainly will be letting go of Todd Bowles soon. They also have a rookie QB in need of a guru.Meanwhile, the Packers begin a search they rarely make. Since 2000, they’ve had two coaches, Mike Sherman and McCarthy.Joe Philbin is the interim. Whoever is next, Green Bay, make sure Rodgers has a say.

The Raiders receiver C. J. Prosise Color Rush Jersey , who earned a 99 rating in the 2019 version of the game, didn’t get a 99 this year. Of four 99s in all, only one plays offense: Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The other 99 ratings belong to Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Bears linebacker Khalil Mack Tre Madden Color Rush Jersey , and Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner. To the extent that the cover athlete gets extra consideration, that courtesy didn’t extend to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The reigning NFL MVP didn’t get a 99.Last year, Madden had seven 99-rated players; Donald is the only holdover. The ratings rise and fall throughout the season. One or more of the four 99s could go down as the game updates its numbers based on actual performance, and Brown in theory could go up.The fact that he has publicly complained about being shorted by EA in his payment for being on the cover of last year’s game could make that a little more difficult Kam Chancellor Color Rush Jersey , however. Michael Bennett made 39 sacks in his five seasons in Seattle. He went to three Pro Bowls. It is those expectations that L.J. Collier walked into the Seahawks’ front door as a first-round draft pick.Collier will play Bennett’s old role, an end in the base defense and as a tackle on passing downs.“He’ll play the spot where Michael Bennett played and we’ll ask him to do a lot of similar things and in time, you know, we’ll see what that means Shaquem Griffin Color Rush Jersey ,’’ Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said, via Bob Condotta of the . “But that’s where we’re starting anyway.’’The Seahwaks envisioned that for 2017 second-round pick Malik McDowell, but he never played a down after an ATV accident. So we need to do something that’s Buffalo style.”He also said that he’s not sure building a new stadium is the right move, as consultants are looking at the possibility of just upgrading their current home.He was also short on answers when asked if he was willing to pay for it himself, replying: “I don’t know.”Of course there will be pressure from the league to try to get them in a better home one way or another“We’re one of the smaller markets and any way we can increase our revenue, they’re for it http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-tremaine-edmunds-jersey ,” Pegula said of the league. And because that’s the way the league operates, a healthy dose of public funding would clearly be their preference.

As the draft approaches Christopher Slayton Jersey Boys , there’s been quite a bit of chatter that the Giants will take their quarterback of the future in the first round — but not with their own pick, No. 6 overall. Instead, the idea is that the Giants think one of the quarterbacks they like — Dwayne Haskins, Drew Lock or Daniel Jones — will drop to the 17th overall pick that they received in the Odell Beckham trade. So will the Giants pass on a quarterback at 6 and take one at 17?That would be an odd approach: If the Giants like one of those quarterbacks well enough that they think he’s the successor to Eli Manning Youth Eli Manning Jerseys , they should take him with the sixth overall pick, so as not to risk some other team taking him with Picks 7-16. And if the Giants don’t like a quarterback enough to take him sixth overall, then he’s not good enough to justify going 17th, either. The latter point has been demonstrated by the Browns three times in recent years: In 2007 Eli Manning Jerseys Stitched , 2012 and 2014, the Browns had two first-round draft picks and took a quarterback all three times. Those quarterbacks — Brady Quinn, Brandon Weeden and Johnny Manziel — did not pan out. The lesson from the Browns is that if you’re not confident enough in a quarterback to take him high in the first round, there’s probably a reason for that.Quarterback is Youth Odell Beckham Jerseys , by far, the most important position in the NFL. If the Giants’ future franchise quarterback is available at Pick No. 6, they shouldn’t risk losing him by waiting for Pick No. 17. Tight ends Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison, along with EDGE player Olivier Vernon will all play for the New York Giants Monday against the Atlanta Falcons. None are on the team’s final injury report.Engram has missed three games with a knee injury. Ellison missed Week 6 with a foot injury. Vernon had been on the injury list with a rib issue after making his 2018 season debut Week 6 vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.Kickoff return man Jawill Davis will miss Monday’s game for the New York Giants against the Atlanta Falcons due to a concussion. Carlos Hyde Damien Harris NFL Jersey , Amari Cooper and Eli Apple are three players that have already been traded to new teams ahead of next week’s NFL trade deadline.More could be coming as teams look to solidify weak areas of their roster as they make a push for the playoffs. According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins and Oakland Raiders cornerback Gareon Conley are two names being discussed by teams seeking help in their secondaries.Additionally, the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are among the teams looking for help via trade.Jenkins and Conley both play for teams with little hope of still reaching the postseason despite being only seven weeks into the season. The Raiders have already dealt away Khalil Mack and Cooper so it’s reasonable to assume others on their roster could be had if the price is right as well.Bryant McFadden – a former NFL cornerback and cousin of Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson – stated that the New Orleans Saints, Eagles and Patriots were teams interested in Peterson. The Saints traded for Apple, and the Eagles and Patriots matchup with La Canfora’s report of teams seeking cornerbacks as well. BOSTON (AP) — Josh Gordon’s winding career has included several second chances following a trail of multiple drug suspensions that cast doubt whether the talented but troubled playmaker would ever get on an NFL field again. He’s getting yet another opportunity. The NFL conditionally reinstated the Patriots wide receiver on Friday.Commissioner Roger Goodell notified Gordon that on Sunday Damien Harris NFL Draft , Gordon can rejoin the team for meetings and conditioning and individual workouts. After that, according to a league statement, “Subject to appropriate progress on clinical care and other arrangements, he will be permitted to participate in team activities, including practice.”But Gordon is barred from next Thursday’s game because of a lack of sufficient conditioning and practice time.Gordon had been suspended indefinitely since December 2018 for violations of the league’s substance abuse policy. The Patriots have stayed mostly mum this preseason about the potential of Gordon rejoining the team, with coach Bill Belichick saying earlier this month Damien Harris Buffalo Bills Jersey , “We don’t have anything to do with Josh Gordon. He’s suspended. You need to talk to the league. We have no control over Josh Gordon.”Now they will.Gordon has been suspended several times by the NFL for violations of its drug policies since being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2012, and missed the entire 2015 and 2016 seasons. After being reinstated in 2017, Gordon revealed in an interview with GQ magazine that he drank or used marijuana before games. “Probably every game of my career,” he said.Gordon also said in a 2017 mini-documentary on Uninterreupted.com that he took Xanax, cocaine, marijuana and other narcotics. Now he’ll return to a Patriots environment in which he was mostly insulated last season and even flourished in their highly disciplined culture.Gordon’s outlook certainly improved last season after a September trade when the Browns felt it was time to cut ties. He had 40 receptions for 720 yards and three touchdowns with the Patriots Youth Drew Bledsoe Jerseys , five years removed from an All-Pro season in 2013 with 87 catches for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns. His return seemingly comes at a perfect time for the Patriots who are eagerly awaiting the return of Julian Edelman from a thumb injury and have been struck by a series of injuries at receiver this preseason. But there are no guarantees Gordon can help the team given his history of suspensions.Still, he has never lost the support of his teammates.Tom Brady, who worked out with Gordon in the offseason, is one of those supporters.“There weren’t many opportunities, but he was around and I needed someone to catch Drew Bledsoe Jerseys Stitched ,” Brady said last month when asked about the workout. “I’ve always enjoyed playing with him and obviously hope everything works out for him. I’m hoping the best, certainly.”

After a bajillion mock drafts, a gazillion hours on NFL Network rehashing the same 40 prospects ad nauseum, the annual underwear athletic festival, five billion comments about how there’s no way such and such player falls past such and such point in the draft, and countless articles comparing draft prospects to Hall of Fame players, the real 2019 NFL draft is almost here! So... time for a draft game. The 2019 NFL Draft will take place from Thursday, April 25, 2019 through Saturday, April 27, 2019. Everybody and their doctor’s dog’s second cousin thrice removed has put out mock drafts and speculated on whom their favorite team might take. Let’s see how well you can predict the picks the Jets make. The game is simple. List six players you think the Jets will take in the 2019 NFL Draft. No need to identify the rounds they get picked in, and no bonuses for correctly identifying rounds or individual picks; just get the names right. Get a first round pick right and you earn one point. Get a second or third round pick right (again, just the name; no need to get the round right) and you earn two points. Get a 4th through 7th round pick right and you earn three points. So if you correctly pick the Jets’ second round pick, 5th round pick and 7th round pick, you earn eight points (2+3+3). Get the first, second and third round pick right and you earn five points (1+2+2). Later round picks earn more points because the farther you go in the draft the less certainty there is for the possible picks. Identifying a short list of say ten possibilities at pick #3 is not that difficult and the pick will almost certainly come from that list. Identifying a list of ten names for Pick # 217 is a fool’s errand and the pick will almost certainly not come from that list.Sounds simple, right? So let’s have at it. The winning entry will get bragging rights as Gang Green Nation’s best draftnik for a year, and a year’s supply of my dumbest jokes, free of charge. Who can best read the tea leaves and correctly identify the Jets picks? Leave your selections in the comments. One entry per member, please; in the case of multiple entries all but the first entry will be ignored. No need to pick one for each round; if you prefer the safety of picking all names that might go at Pick #3 in the hopes of getting at least one right, that’s your prerogative. Also no need to pick unique selections; if you agree with others’ picks White Jermaine Kearse Jerseys , you can still use them yourself. All you draftniks out there, let’s see what you’ve got. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Quinnen Williams stepped through the doors of the New York Jets‘ training facility for the first time and couldn’t help but get a bit starstruck. The No. 3 overall draft pick looked around and saw his new NFL teammates — guys he once knew only from watching TV and playing video games.“I met Le’Veon Bell yesterday and I’m like, ‘Whoa! That’s Le’Veon Bell, the No. 1 running back in the NFL,” a smiling Williams said Friday. “It’s just crazy. I met Sam Darnold, that’s crazy. I met Jamal Adams. Man, I’ve got Jamal Adams on my (Madden) Ultimate Team. It’s just crazy.”It might seem wacky right now, but Williams knows he certainly belongs — even without video game controllers in his hands. The playmaking defensive lineman was considered by many to be the best overall talent available in this year’s draft, arguably the safest pick a team could make. Now, he’s going to be a 6-foot-3, 303-pound building block in coordinator Gregg Williams’ defense. The former Alabama star was a stubborn run stuffer and punishing pass rusher for the Crimson Tide, and will likely be asked to fill similar roles for the Jets while lining up at different spots on the line.“Wherever they put me, I’ll play,” Quinnen Williams said, flashing a mouthful teeth covered by braces. “If they put me on kickoff returns, I’ll go crazy. They can put me at anything, and I’m going to try to dominate.”He joins a defensive line that includes Leonard Williams, Steve McLendon, Henry Anderson and Nathan Shepherd. So, adding another player to one of the team’s strengths wouldn’t seem to have been a priority entering the draft. But when Quinnen Williams was still sitting there at No. 3 and the Jets found no acceptable trade options to move down in the first round, New York couldn’t resist.“Any time you have a guy that we see as a really talented player, a guy that put a lot of good tape out there his last year in college Jermaine Kearse Jerseys 2019 , and add that to the group we already have, I think it’s really going to be something that could help our defense, especially up the middle,” coach Adam Gase said. “The push up the middle is going to be big for us, especially in this division.”That, of course, mostly means getting to Tom Brady and trying to end New England’s 10-year reign atop the AFC East.Speaking of the Patriots quarterback, Quinnen Williams was asked if sacking Brady would be a sweet moment in his young career.“It’s crazy because Tom Brady started playing in the NFL before I was born,” said the 21-year-old lineman.Well, not quite. Quinnen Williams was born in 1997 and Brady broke into the league in 2000 — but you get the idea.“To sack him, it would be amazing,” he said. “Just to get a sack and just being in the NFL is amazing, so just to get a tackle in the NFL, a tackle for loss, just to play a down, it’s a dream come true for me because I get to play at a high level. So, getting a sack will be like icing on the cake.”While he was considered a sure-thing prospect entering the draft, Jachai Polite was anything but.The outside linebacker was a force at times for Florida, a mix of speed, athleticism and power coming off the edge that had some considering Polite a potential first-rounder.But then came some up-and-down performances, a hamstring injury that hampered him at the NFL combine in February — and some shaky interview sessions and perceptions that he was immature.“It just opened my eyes to the real world,” Polite recalled. “It was just a humbling experience.”Polite slid to the third round, and that’s where the Jets pounced. And White Brandon Shell Jerseys , he’s eager to prove they made the right call.“They took a chance on me,” he said. “I’m surrounded by great people, so I have no choice but to change and be great.”The Jets were well aware of the questions surrounding Polite, but met with him and felt comfortable that he could come to New York and thrive — on and off the field.“I don’t think a lot of us had it all figured out at 21,” Gase said. “Whatever happened in the past is irrelevant to me. Moving forward, it’s just going to be on him to do the right things and worry about what he can control, which is show up every day, be on time, know what you need to do, go out there and practice hard.“He does that, it’ll be smooth sailing for him.”And, perhaps not so much for opposing quarterbacks.Polite also was asked who would be the first quarterback he’d like to sack in the NFL.“The first one we play,” the rookie said with a chuckle. In that case, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills better be ready when the regular season opens Sept. 8.Polite enjoyed watching Dwight Freeney as a kid, particularly how the star pass rusher would zip past blockers on his way to taking down quarterbacks.“I liked the spin move a lot,” Polite said before being asked to grade his own move. “It’s all right. It’s not like his — yet. It’s going to get there.”NOTES: Gase reiterated that he’s not concerned Bell hasn’t taken part in voluntary workouts but said the running back told him he’d be with the team for mandatory minicamp next month. “We know where he is,” Gase said. “He’s working out. Every year that he’s played, he’s been ready to go.” … Gase rebuffed recent reports that there was tension between him and GM Mike Maccagnan. “Unless I say it, it’s really irrelevant to me,” Gase said. “It kind of (ticks) me off a little bit, because we have discussions on everything. That’s our job.”

Antonio Morrison Jersey , the Green Bay Packers’ offense was on track for Week 2 and absolutely electrifying— for the first quarter.A combination of the Vikings tightening up and the Packers deferring from their initial play-action heavy first quarter game script reduced the offense to a very average output.Despite that, Aaron Jones was able to grind out yards on the ground when the passing game struggled and even made an impression in the passing game. The Packers defense put together another strong performance, despite giving up a big play or two here and there. The unit seems leagues away from the past couple years of just getting pounded for long drives with seemingly no way to stop opposing offenses from imposing their will.If you missed the fantasy superlatives from Week 1, we broke down the awards and what they mean. You can check them out here.Without further ado, let’s check out Week 2’s winners:The Big CheeseThis week’s Big Cheese award goes to the aforementioned Aaron Jones. The running back from UTEP was able to gain 116 yards on the ground and added an additional 34 yards through the air. This week, head coach Matt LaFleur said he would like to “keep a good balance” between Jones and Jamaal Williams, but fantasy owners hope that doesn’t mean less work for Jones. Ideally, more carries would go to both backs because the Packers are winning handily and don’t have to pass as much. While Jones didn’t have an excessive amount of receiving yards, his six targets in the passing game were encouraging. Coming out of college, Jones’ receiving ability has been underrated and under-utilized. With more reps, Jones and Aaron Rodgers will connect on that wheel route play to be sure. He’s also sure to earn more passing down reps if he continues to destroy All-Pro safeties:Jones is currently the RB15 in PPR leagues, but finished last week as the second highest scoring back. An indicator of quality fantasy scoring going forward.Number One BoyThis week’s Number One Boy is a new player, but same position. Marquez Valdes-Scantling wasn’t able to take advantage of a depleted Vikings secondary and only brought in three catches on five targets for 19 yards. He’s a young player and learning two offenses in your first two years in the league can’t be an easy task. He still holds a lot of big play ability and should be considered for a spot in the flex. Currently Jimmy Graham Jersey , players like KeeSean Johnson and Cody Latimer are averaging more fantasy points per game, but MVS is also in the company of Mike Evans and Stefon Diggs. That provides a little perspective on how it’s still too early to determine a WRs fantasy value. The Big ShortThe stock to short this week after their performance last week is Jimmy Graham. He was a non-factor in the passing game against Minnesota after coming up with a touchdown in Week 1. Graham is nursing what could turn out to be a “significant” groin injury that led the Packers to promote TE Evan Baylis to the active roster. I wasn’t high on Graham going into the season, despite being a jumpball endzone threat, and now his injury could indicate age catching up with him. The QB later was flipped for a pair of draft picks, one of whom became a beloved player in Green Bay."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football Advicebecame a beloved player in Green Bay.CDTShareTweetShareSharePackers Draft Pick History: Green Bay made Mark Brunell the 118th pick in 1993The Green Bay Packers hold ten draft picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, and for a team that has a storied, 100-year history, they have predictably made selections in the past at every one of these draft slots. Over the next few days leading up to this year’s draft, Acme Packing Company will examine the Packers’ history at each current slot for 2019, as well as run down the names of recent picks around the league at the position.Believe it or not, the Green Bay Packers drafted the most successful NFL player ever selected with the 118th overall pick in the NFL Draft. It was back in 1993, and Ron Wolf was drafting as the Packers’ general manager for the second time. In those days, Wolf was a proponent of drafting a quarterback each and every season. Wolf believed that was the best way to develop backups; he often traded them away after letting them learn the NFL game in Green Bay for a time.In 1993 Elgton Jenkins Green Bay Packers Jersey , the Packers picked a relatively unknown quarterback from the University of Washington, one who had more success as a mobile player than as a passer and who had never completed more than 60 percent of his passes in a season in college. Although he did not have his success in Green Bay, that player went on to have an 18-year NFL career, eventually earning a Super Bowl ring as a backup late in his career.Packers’ History at #1181943: Tom Brock, C1993: Mark Brunell, QBWe know virtually nothing about Brock, but Brunell should be a household name for anyone who followed the NFL in the 1990s and early 2000s.After not taking the field in his rookie season while sitting behind Brett Favre and Ty Detmer, Brunell did see brief action in 1994 as the backup. Wolf then traded him to the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars, getting draft picks in the third and fifth rounds in return. Wolf used those picks on fullback William Henderson and running back Travis Jervey respectively, while Brunell started ten games for the struggling new franchise.Ultimately, the deal worked out for both sides. Brunell started for the Jaguars for nine seasons, making three Pro Bowls in that span and leading the Jaguars to the AFC Championship Game on two occasions (including in their second season in 1996). After that successful run, the Jaguars traded him to Washington for a third-round draft pick in 2004 Elgton Jenkins Jersey 2019 , and he spent four seasons with the team. He then signed a two-year deal to be Drew Brees’ backup in New Orleans in 2008, and he won a Super Bowl ring as a Saint in 2009.All told, that was a great pick for the Packers, who eventually a fifth-round backup QB into a stellar, All-Pro caliber fullback and a decent backup running back/special teams player. Ka'dar Hollman Jersey 2019 , it has not fully closed the door on giving both teams possessions in overtime."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShareTweetShareShareNFL votes against changing onside kicks, will wait to decide on OT possessionJim Brown-USA TODAY SportsFootball fans watching the AAF have been treated to a new feature. Onside kicks have largely gone away, replaced by a fourth-and-12 attempt from the trailing team’s own 28-yard line. This year at the NFL Annual Meeting, the 32 owners voted on a proposed rule change that would have adopted a similar play as an option for teams trailing late in games. The change would have instituted a fourth-and-15 play at the 35-yard line instead, making the challenge a bit more difficult but making the line to gain an extra 10 yards of field position down the field. However, despite the rule earning some early traction among the league’s Competition Committee (seven of eight members reportedly voted in favor of it), the rule change is dead for 2019. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that this change made it to a vote, but did not earn enough support to pass.24 of the NFL’s 32 owners (a three-fourths vote) are needed to pass any rule changes. For now Ka'dar Hollman Jersey Mens , the NFL will continue to ensure that teams trailing late in games have a near-zero chance of getting the football back on offense quickly. In the 2018 regular season, just four of 52 onside attempts were successful, despite there being 12 successes on 57 attempts the previous year. With the 2018 rules for kickoffs being made permanent — a rule change that did pass at this week’s meeting, along with a handful of other minor tweaks— expect no surprises on onside kicks again in 2019.However, there are other rules change proposals that still have a chance of passing. The Kansas City Chiefs proposed giving both teams an opportunity to possess the football on offense in overtime, and according to Pelissero, that rule will not go to a vote at this meeting. Instead, the owners and Competition Committee will apparently think it over for two more months and will make a final determination at the league’s spring meeting in May. In the meantime Youth Ka'dar Hollman Jersey , the Chiefs will likely adjust the rule proposal to simplify it, according to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, for his part, made his preference known when speaking to the media at the meeting:On Tuesday afternoon, the owners are also scheduled to discuss the rules proposals regarding instant replay reviews, notably the proposals regarding penalties. Stay tuned for updates regarding the debate about these potential changes. The San Francisco 49ers are apologizing for initially leaving Colin Kaepernick out of a photo gallery celebrating the team's history against the Green Bay Packers. The team posted dozens of photos on its website of past games against the Packers before the teams meet again Monday night without at first including any of Kaepernick. The team later added photos of Kaepernick. This is the first photo gallery the team has run this year but pictures of Kaepernick were included in all seven photo galleries posted on the team's website last year."Unfortunately there were a handful of obvious misses in this gallery posted by our website team and we appreciate them being brought to our attention," the team said in a statement. "The 49ers organization has tremendous respect and gratitude for the contributions Colin made to our team over the years."Kaepernick set an NFL record for quarterbacks by rushing for 181 yards in a playoff win against Green Bay on Jan. 12, 2013 White Ka'dar Hollman Jersey , threw for 413 yards in a season-opening win against the Packers in 2013, and led a winning drive to win a playoff game in Green Bay on Jan. 5, 2014."We have fond memories of those games and that should have been displayed on our website," the team said. "This oversight does not properly reflect the appreciation our ownership and this team have for Colin."The 49ers supported Kaepernick in 2016 when he decided to kneel during the national anthem to protest social and racial injustice and matched his $1 million contribution toward programs for social equality.Kaepernick opted out of his contract the following offseason when the 49ers told him they planned to cut him. Kaepernick has been unable to find another team to play for the past two seasons.Coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about bringing Kaepernick back after starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a season-ending knee injury and said he still didn't fit the team's offense."I made that decision just with the style of offense that we wanted to go with," Shanahan said on Sept. 24. "That's kind of what I said last year and it's kind of the same situation now. If you're thinking of if there'd be a different discussion now, I always look into what style of offense I want to do, what style of offense we've been doing for the last two years."

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers strolled into Chicago for the season opener boasting a revamped defense with several expensive additions, and suffocated quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and the Bears’ offense.Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine’s unit will see an entirely different challenge in running back Dalvin Cook on Sunday when the Packers (1-0) host the Minnesota Vikings (1-0), another NFC North foe.Cook rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries against the Atlanta Falcons last week. It was the third-year back’s third 100-yard outing in his 16th career game.Article continues below ...“Yeah, the run game, I mean it all starts, that running back, he’s an elite runner,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. “Dalvin Cook’s an elite runner, and they did a nice job up front. They took it to Atlanta, quite frankly, last week.”When healthy, Cook has proven to be one of the prime runners in the league. But staying healthy has been the biggest challenge of Cook’s young career.Cook, a 2017 second-round pick Tom Compton Jersey , played only four games as a rookie, suffering a torn ACL. Cook battled injury again last season, missing a chunk after a hamstring injury in a 29-29 tie at Lambeau Field in Week 2.Cook said he’s not thinking about last season’s injury or last season’s tie.“Different team, different mindset, different coaches, everything’s different,” he said. “You’ve got to expect different things. I can’t really talk about what we did last year.”The Packers allowed just 46 yards on the ground in the opener, with inside linebacker Blake Martinez leading the team with five tackles and a sack. Outside linebackers Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith and safety Adrian Amos, all acquired in March through free agency, combined for five tackles, 2½ sacks and an interception. The Smiths combined for 10 total quarterback pressures; Za’Darius Smith had six, which leads the league.“The guys that they brought in are pretty good players,” Cook said of the Green Bay defense. “They kind of added some rangy, long guys. I think their defensive speed is a plus for them, and they kind of fly around. I think that’s what’s going to get their defense charged up. I think we’ve got to kind of limit that for those guys and match speed for speed. We can do that.”REUNITEDIf there’s anyone who knows what to expect from Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins, it’s LaFleur. LaFleur was Cousins’ position coach in Washington in 2012 and 2013. Washington was LaFleur’s first stop in the NFL.“If you let him sit back there and have time, he’s going to pick you apart because he’s extremely accurate,” LaFleur said of Cousins.Cousins, who sent a congratulatory text message to LaFleur after the first-year Packers coach picked up his first career win in Chicago, played sparingly under LaFleur as Cousins backed up 2012 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Robert Griffin III.Cousins had just 10 pass attempts in the win last week, the fewest of any game he’s started in his career.“I have no interest in dropping back 50 times if we don’t need to Dan Bailey Jersey ,” he said. “I like to win the way we did last week if that’s the way it can happen. I’ll play whatever game is called, whatever game we need, and all that really matters is that we find a way at the end to win. I’m not going to nitpick or look at any of the steps along the way to get there.”SIMPLY DOMINANTAaron Rodgers has seven games with a passer rating of 130-plus against Minnesota, the most by a quarterback against one team in NFL history. Rodgers has 24 touchdown and zero interceptions in those seven games (6-1).“It’s just high-percentage passes,” he said. “You’re trying to find in the progression what guys give you the best chance of a completion and the lowest chance of a negative play. This is the way I’ve played and we’ve played here for a long time. We take care of the football.”STOUT DEFENSETwo of Minnesota’s biggest defensive stars have shined brightest against Green Bay. Free safety Harrison Smith, who had a team-high eight tackles last week, has five career interceptions against the Packers. The eight-year veteran has 20 career picks. Meanwhile, defensive end Everson Griffen has 12½ sacks in 19 career games against Green Bay.“You have Pro Bowl-caliber players on every level of the defense, great inside linebackers, two guys off the edge who can rush really, really well, and then a back end that can really cover, one of the top safeties in the league in Harrison, and obviously a great corner combo with Trae and Xavier,” Rodgers said. “They do a great job of playing their scheme. They’ve been together for a while. They’re a tough team to try to attack.”OFFENSIVE FOCUSBoth LaFleur and Green Bay offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett said the offense needs to operate more efficiently on first and second downs on Sunday to avoid third-and-long situations. The Packers converted only 2 of 12 third-down opportunities in the opener.INJURY CONCERNSThe Vikings placed receiver Josh Doctson on injured reserve Thursday with a hamstring injury. Minnesota signed the 2016 first-round pick just before the start of the season after he was released by Washington. Doctson was inactive for Week 1.Green Bay left tackle David Bakhtiari, who appeared on the team’s injury report Wednesday with a back issue, was not in pads on Thursday. LaFleur wouldn’t say whether Bakhtiari was held out for precautionary reasons or if it means his availability for Sunday is in question.

into high gear. The team announced Saturday it completed its interview with former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy Brandon Copeland Jersey , the third known coach to meet with New York since Todd Bowles was fired last Sunday night. The Jets met with Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy on Wednesday, and former Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase on Friday. And, they’re far from done with sitting down with candidates.New York is also expected to interview Cowboys defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator Kris Richard in Dallas on Sunday and Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken early next week. ESPN reported that Monken will meet with the Jets on Tuesday after interviewing with Green Bay on Saturday and Cincinnati on Monday.McCarthy had a 125-77-2 regular-season record in 13 seasons with the Packers, and went 10-8 in the postseason — including a Super Bowl victory over Pittsburgh to cap the 2010 season. The 55-year-old coach led Green Bay to the playoffs for eight consecutive seasons spanning 2009 through 2016, a streak at the time matched only by New England. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers missed most of the 2017 season with a broken collarbone as the Packers finished 7-9.But, his return this season didn’t translate into a postseason appearance — and it ultimately cost McCarthy his job as the Packers went 4-7-1 under him and the team replaced him with Joe Philbin on an interim basis. There were also reports that Rodgers and McCarthy didn’t see eye-to-eye on playcalling in recent seasons.McCarthy is perhaps the biggest name among known popular candidates for the Jets, who have failed to reach the playoffs since the 2010 season under Rex Ryan. Whomever comes to New York will be charged with furthering the development of quarterback Sam Darnold , who had an up-and-down rookie season but finished with a solid final month after missing three games with a foot injury.McCarthy has been lauded for his work with quarterbacks, most notably toward the tail end of Brett Favre’s career with the Packers and then with Rodgers, who was a two-time league MVP and set several NFL records under the coach’s tutelage.McCarthy is a native of Pittsburgh who began his coaching career at Fort Hays State (1987-88) before moving on to the University of Pittsburgh (1989-92). He spent time as an NFL assistant with Kansas City (1993-98), Green Bay (1999), New Orleans (2000-04) and San Francisco (2005) — as the offensive coordinator for both the Saints and 49ers — before being hired as the Packers’ coach in 2006. I also decided to track the frequency of select notable occurrences, such as a tally of Darnold’s total “improvised” production (a revered staple of his), and a count of drops, among other things.Previously, I ran through a few of the most notable statistical tidbits I found from tracking Darnold in his Week 5 and Week 6 outings, against the Broncos and Colts. Today we’ll move on to his seventh and eighth games, a pair of NFC North battles against the Vikings and Bears. Before we start diving in Womens Chris Herndon Jersey , here is a look at the collection of route types I’ve been tracking.Obviously, there is a seemingly infinite number of complex route concepts that could not possibly fit in that picture. I went with a simplified collection of 15 route types. I thought this lineup was perfect for having enough variety to capture every throw while not going overboard with specificity. It’s sometimes difficult to tell exactly what route a receiver is trying to run. Other times, there will be instances where a receiver will run a more complex route that features a combination of multiple routes seen above, such as an out-and-up or slant-and-go among others. I assigned route types based on the nature of the throw for Darnold. Whichever route type best matched the angle, depth, and overall essence of the throw Darnold had to make, would be the one I’d go with.Weeks 7 and 8 marked the first two of three straight rough outings for Darnold before his three-game absence due to injury. The circumstances were tough, as Darnold took on two of the league’s top four DVOA defenses while the Jets offense was riddled by injuries.Let’s take a look at how the cookie crumbled for Darnold near the midway point of his rookie year.Vikings 37, Jets 17. Darnold: 17 for 42, 206 yards, 1 touchdown, 3 interceptions (34.4 passer rating, 4.9 yards per attempt)The Vikings game was arguably Darnold’s only home outing of the season in which his performance could not be described as at least “solid”. His 40.5% completion rate and 4.9 yards per attempt both finished as season lows. While he didn’t receive much help against a formidable opponent, Darnold still struggled a lot in his own right. Over the first three quarters, outside of a drive in the first where he completed three straight passes for 72 yards and a touchdown, Darnold completed 5 of 19 passes for 14 yards. That’s 0.7 yards per attempt. Which. . . . isn’t very good. There were a few particular splits where Darnold really struggled in this one. Against zone coverage, Darnold completed 8 of 22 passes for 75 yards (3.4 per attempt) and only two first downs (9.1%). He also couldn’t get the downfield game going. Darnold’s average attempt distance against Minnesota was a season high 10.9 yards downfield. He attempted eight throws over 20 yards downfield, but only completed one of them.Darnold threw for only seven first downs. There was only one route that he picked up a first down on more than once, which was the out route. Darnold relied on the out route more than any other variety in this game, completing 3 of 7 for 39 yards and two firsts. In Darnold’s defense, he didn’t get much support in this one. Jets running backs picked up only 53 yards on 18 carries (2.9 per attempt). Darnold also suffered from four drops, which by my tracking was the highest single-game total for the Jets through that point of the season. He had a handful of eye-popping throws, however. Sterling drops this pass, one of Darnold’s best throws of the afternoon.Darnold also had this really nice dime to Trenton Cannon on the wheel route.Bears 24, Jets 10. Darnold: 14 for 29, 153 yards http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-nathan-shepherd-jersey , 1 touchdown, 0 interceptions (75.8 passer rating, 5.3 yards per attempt)The Jets were without both Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa in Week 8. As a result, Darnold had to go up against the league’s best defense on the road with a wide receiver group headlined by Jermaine Kearse, Andre Roberts, Charone Peake, and Deontay Burnett.Darnold wasn’t necessarily “good” in this game, but I thought he did just about all that he could given the circumstances. The Jets could not get anybody open in this game. There were many snaps where Darnold either had no options or could only try a tight-window throw a handful of yards beyond the line of scrimmage. The Bears had arguably the most talented defense in the league last year, and unsurprisingly, they absolutely clobbered the second-string Jets unit. Here are a few examples of what a typical snap looked like in that game. (Soldier Field’s all-22 view can be tough to see, so I provided some very excellently drawn blue circles to help point out the blanketed Jets receivers.)A few numbers help showcase how much the Jets receivers struggled to separate in this game. The Bears broke up six passes that afternoon, a total that is 50% higher than their season average of 4.0, which was third-best in the NFL. Darnold was also forced to throw the ball away five times, which by my tracking was a season high to that point of the year.Darnold had some stark splits against the Bears. He did much better against man matchups than zone. He completed 10 of 14 attempts for 132 yards and seven first downs when throwing to receivers covered man-to-man. Against zone, he completed 4 of 10 passes for 21 yards and one first down. Darnold did a good job taking advantage of the rare 1-on-1 victories by his receivers, but could not buy a successful play underneath against zone coverages.I wanted to point out a few trends I’ve noticed from Darnold over the games I’ve tracked so far.So far, I’ve taken note that on a few different types of throws, Darnold has seen dramatic differences in production based on field side. Darnold has had a substantially better deep game throwing to his left. On go, post, corner, fade, and wheel routes, here is a comparison of Darnold’s production by field side through eight games.Left: 14 for 26, 358 yards (13.8 Y/A), 13 first downs (50%), 7 touchdowns Trumaine Johnson Jersey , 3 interceptions drop.Right: 4 for 18, 72 yards (4.0 Y/A), 4 first downs (22%), 1 touchdown, 1 interceptionAdditionally, Darnold has much more success throwing to his left on out-breaking routes toward the sideline. On out and comeback routes, here is a comparison of Darnold’s production by field side so far.Left: 13 for 17, 141 yards (8.3 Y/A), 7 first downs (41%)Right: 5 for 17, 51 yards (3.0 Y/A), 2 first downs (12%)In contrast, Darnold has been more successful on in-breaking routes when throwing to his right. Here is a comparison of Darnold’s production by field side on slant and dig routes.Left: 7 for 16, 107 yards (6.7 Y/A), 5 first downs (31%), 0 touchdowns, 2 interceptionsRight: 14 for 23, 280 yards (12.2 Y/A), 12 first downs (52%), 1 touchdown, 1 interceptionIs there meaning to these splits, or are they mere coincidence? One theory that I think could be behind these numbers is the Robby Anderson factor. Just about all of Anderson’s deep production with Darnold through this point has been on the left side. Could the threat that Anderson provides on the left be opening up breaks toward the middle of the field for the right side? Looking back at the Week 6 game against the Colts, it seems like this idea very much could have been in play. Jermaine Kearse feasted on slants from the right side, while Anderson consistently attracted help over the top on the left. With that game coming one week after Anderson roasted Denver with left side go routes, it makes sense that the Colts would be making it a point to avoid suffering the same fate the Broncos did. I’m very curious to see if these trends hold up over Darnold’s next five games. Here is a look at Darnold’s route type breakdown through his first eight games of 2018.Previous breakdowns:Weeks 1-2 (@ Detroit and vs Miami)Weeks 3-4 (@ Cleveland and @ Jacksonville)Weeks 5-6 (vs Denver and vs Indianapolis)

http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-james-white-jersey , shows absurdity of new NFL helmet rule “They’re just calling this new helmet rule a lot because it’s the preseason, it’ll probably be back to normal once the real season starts”-People who see snow falling in New England and think “It’ll probably just be a couple inches, I don’t need to stock up on pizza and beer, it’ll be fine”(For those of you who stock up on bread and milk and eggs before a snowstorm, we’ll trade off - French toast at your house for breakfast, then dinner at the pizza and beer lodge. People helping people!)As the Jordan Richards era in New England enters its fourth season, the second-round pick from Stanford just might have made his greatest non-special-teams contribution to the game of football besides chipping in to bring a Super Bowl title to one of the other most obnoxious cities in the NFL.And it’s because he made a tackle! On a big old tight end, at that!Look, even if we can’t agree on deep dish or New York style, french toast or pancakes, or IPAs or stouts, my scientific assessment of everyone I’ve ever watched football with for more than 15 seconds is we all want the same thing - everybody loves the big hits, and nobody wants to see guys getting blasted in the head like the hit on Jerry Rice that made Rodney Harrison the NFL’s most hated player back in the day. Right? Right. That said Matthew Slater Jersey , surely you all saw this excellent enforcer move from Cardinals safety Travell Dixon last week that wasn’t anywhere near a headshot and...well, let’s roll the video. When the refs throwing flags make you do the shrug emoji in real life:That brings us to Jordan Richards on Thursday night against Philly’s rookie tight end Dallas Goedert, and thanks to Richards taking a couple seconds to square up and take his shot, we can see him get set, lower his shoulder, go for the body shot, and, well....Aaaaaaaand that’s a flag. It’s clearly intended to be a shoulder hit, only, you know, Richards’ Stanford-educated head is attached to his shoulders.Fortunately, since I’m an ideas guy, I think I can help. This’ll be a direct spinoff of my idea to fix touchdown reviews Womens Ryan Allen Jersey , which is this: if there’s any doubt on whether a player scored a touchdown or not, the play gets presented to a class of third-graders. If they say it’s a touchdown, it’s a touchdown. And then they get a pizza party for their hard work.So instead of this janky-ass helmet rule, our new benchmark for helmet hits is the Vontaze Burfict rule. If it looks like Vontaze headhunting out there, flag it. If it looks like a good old-fashioned Bam-Bam Kam Chancellor shot, unless someone’s hurt, play on. Feel free to substitute James Harrison, Bernard Pollard, Rodney Harrison, or your cheapshot artist of choice.See, we don’t even need elementary schoolers for that one!All the heads-up tackling, all the instructional videos, and all the Dean Blandino sorry-not-sorry Monday morning “explanations” of penalties aren’t going to make one percent of difference if they’re going to insist on throwing flags over a player’s body moving in unison with...itself.And speaking of which http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-jason-mccourty-jersey , what happens when the first player tries to twist his neck away from a hit to avoid a penalty, and then god knows what happens to their neck when a bang-bang play hits the wrong way in real time? For what it’s worth, Bill Belichick all but says point-blank here that nobody really knows what we’re doing anymore:Ironically, that might end up being one of Bill’s more insightful answers. Tom Brady has never known what it’s like to play out the final season of a contract in his 20-year NFL career, and the New England Patriots superstar quarterback isn’t about to find out.Brady, who turned 42 on Saturday, is signing a two-year, $70 million extension that runs through 2021 and includes a hefty raise this season, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press. The person, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity Sunday because the Patriots hadn’t announced the extension, confirmed the NFL Network’s report on Brady’s contract.Brady will get an $8 million raise in 2019, when he’ll make $23 million. The extension also calls for him to make $30 million in 2020 and $32 million in 2021, when he would be 44.Brady Kyle Van Noy Jersey , who led the Patriots to a 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 53, is one of just four players to win six NFL titles. The others all played for Vince Lombardi’s mighty Green Bay Packers teams in the 1960s: Hall of Famers Herb Adderley and Forrest Gregg and their teammate, Fuzzy Thurston.Adderley, 80, told the AP earlier this year that he believes it will take another 100 years for someone else to join the exclusive club, although he figures Brady will make it a moot point with a seventh ring before he decides to retire.“Oh yes, indeed. He has a shot at it as long as he plays,” Adderley said.Brady and the Patriots open defense of their latest Super Bowl title against Pittsburgh on Sept. 8. Usually, the champion kicks off the season but that honor goes to Green Bay and Chicago this year as the NFL celebrates its 100th season.

Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsNow that the first wave of free agency is over, the big money contracts are mostly done. From here on out, there will be smaller deals though the impact can still be big. For a team like the New York Giants who still have some holes on the roster but not a lot of money to play around with, this is the time to seek out some bargains. The Giants have already made a few good low-cost moves such as Antoine Bethea and Markus Golden, but there are still some free agents out there who could immediately help the Giants in 2019.Joe Barksdale, OTThe addition of a veteran tackle set to enter his age-31 season might not be the type of youth movement this team is searching for on the offensive line, but Barksdale could serve as a useful and competent placeholder while the future of the position gets sorted out. Barksdale was released in the middle of the season by the Los Angeles Chargers, signed with the Arizona Cardinals a week later, and immediately started the final four games of the season. During that time, he had a blown block rate of 1.3 percent per Sports Info Solutions, which was the second-best among Arizona’s offensive linemen during that span behind only center Mason Cole (centers typically have lower blown block rates than tackles, so do guards). Even at Barksdale’s peak with the Chargers Daniel Jones Jersey Draft , he was only making around $4 million per season, so he could be a low-risk signing to plug in on the right side to upgrade over Chad Wheeler (2.47 percent blown block rate) and figure out what’s next at the position.Benson Mayowa, DLMayowa is a former Cardinal, but doesn’t have experience with James Bettcher — 2018 was his only season in the desert. But even if there’s a lack of familiarity, Mayowa still has a skill set that translates well into Bettcher’s scheme. Mayowa had the second-most pressures on the Cardinals last season (23) behind Chandler Jones (45) and added four sacks. He had 15 non-sack tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage last season, which ranked 22nd among all defensive players. He’s shown a consistent ability to rush the passer and previously had six sacks in 2016 with the Dallas Cowboys.Watch him (91) change direction off play-action and chase down Jared Goff for a sack in Week 2.Last year Mayowa was signed to a one-year deal worth $1.3 million, which comes in around the price the Giants have taken swings at defensive linemen this offseason. He only started four games, but played 52 percent of Arizona’s defensive snaps. He has the ability to play with both his hand in the dirt and standing up and he’ll turn 28 years old in August.Caraun Reid, DLWhile Mayowa would be a useful piece to rotate in on the edge, Reid could be that for the interior. There were few players last season better at creating pressure from the interior, even though Reid didn’t have a lot of playing time. Reid only had 105 pass rush snaps, but among 94 defensive tackles with at least 100 pass rushes, he was sixth in pressure rate per Sports Info Solutions. His sack rate was low, but pressure rate is more predictive of future sack rate than past sack rate. Placing the soon-to-be 28-year-old Reid in a rotation with B.J, Hill, Dalvin Tomlison, Olsen Pierre, and however many interior linemen are drafted Daniel Jones NFL Jersey , would keep them fresh throughout a game. Reid’s presence would allow the Giants to either have two pass rushing interior defenders on the field at the same time with Hill in too or it would keep at least one on the field if Reid filled in for the second-year defender.Zach Brown, ILBBrown signed a three-year/$21 million contract with Washington last offseason, but only got through a year of it before being released. The cut was more due to Washington’s bad bookkeeping than Brown’s play.Over the past three seasons, one in Buffalo and two in Washington, Brown has been one of the league’s most consistent inside linebackers. He had 18 tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage last season and was consistent in coverage. The one year he was asked to blitz more often than usual — 2016 in Buffalo — he put up four sacks. Last season he only had 27 pass rushes, per Sports Info Solutions, and had a pressure rate of 25.9 percent. Alec Ogletree was sent 67 times in 2018 with a pressure rate of 20.3 percent — and that might be the best part of his game. Brown is also one of the league’s best tacklers. His 5.05 percent broken tackle rate was the ninth-lowest among 94 defenders with at least 50 tackles in 2018.The finances would be tricky with Brown. He’s not going to get a $7 million per year deal entering his age-30 season, but he’s also not coming in on a vet minimum deal. $4 to $5 million might be the range. Ogletree’s presence on the roster also makes it tough, because the Giants can’t get out of that deal before June 1. At that point, the Giants could save $4 million on the cap, which would potentially break even with Brown coming in. But if Dave Gettleman has insisted he won’t hesitate to “draft over” a starter if the value is there, why wouldn’t that be the case in free agency when Brown is a better player than Ogletree in just about every way?Rashard Higgins, WR (RFA)This isn’t likely to happen because NFL teams in general stay away from restricted free agency, but they should be more aggressive in this area and it makes sense for the Giants to do so here.I brought this up as a possibility after the Odell Beckham trade, but let’s run through it again. Because Higgins is a restricted free agent, the Giants would have to give an offer sheet to the current Cleveland receiver. The Giants would also have to give up a draft pick if the Browns don’t match. But Higgins was only given an original round tender, which means as a fifth-round pick, the Giants would only have to part with a fifth for the receiver. The Giants currently have three of those — they’d have to give up their own fifth Daniel Jones NFL Draft , the 144th overall pick. A best-case scenario for a fifth-round pick is turning into Rashard Higgins. Now the Giants would have to offer Higgins a contract and with restricted free agents, it usually has to be enough for his current team to not want to match. But given the Browns now have Beckham and a large deal for Jarvis Landry already on the books, they might not want to pay more than the current tender for a player who will at best be their No. 3 receiver, even with $35 million worth of cap space for 2018 per Over The Cap.Because of that, the Giants could potentially come away with a below-market deal for Higgins, who was 12th among 83 receivers with at least 50 targets in Expected Points Added per target in 2018 per Sports Info Solutions. Given the need still at wide receiver and the deals handed out to similarly or less talented receivers who were able to hit free agency, parting with a late-round pick to get a player like Higgins on a multi-year deal isn’t a bad strategy. It could potentially offer the Giants a few different avenues to explore. First, it would give the Giants a young (25 years old in October) receiver who can consistently win down the field from the outside, which they don’t have right now. A receiver rotation of Higgins, Golden Tate, and Sterling Shepard isn’t all that bad. It could also allow them to seek trade offers for Shepard, who they might not re-sign after 2019. If they go that route, Shepard should bring back more than the fifth-round pick given up for Higgins. It gives the Giants a few options to improve the receiving corps now and in the future.

the 2019 NFL season. According to Spotrac White Tremaine Edmunds Jerseys , the team has $80,880,760 to work with in order to improve the roster. With a limited number of in-house free agents to re-sign, the team will look to the draft and free agency to fill holes and improve a roster that won six games in 2018.A huge part of success in the NFL is retaining the talent on your own roster. The Bills could look to extend worthy players whose contracts are not yet expired. In many years, there are plenty of options for early contract extensions; however, the current Buffalo roster does not have many. The team has a plethora of players who either are under team control via restricted or exclusive-rights free agency (Isaiah McKenzie, Robert Foster, Levi Wallace), still on their rookie contract (Matt Milano, Dion Dawkins, Josh Allen), or more likely to be released and/or allowed to walk at the end of their current deal (Vladimir Ducasse, LeSean McCoy Tremaine Edmunds Jerseys 2019 , Charles Clay). In short, there are very few players worthy of a contract extension who need a contract extension on the Bills’ current roster.Which players deserve a contract extension? As a general rule, I don’t believe in extending a player’s contract when it has more than one year remaining. I also don’t see a reason to give players under team control (read: restricted free agents and exclusive-rights free agents) a deal unnecessarily. With that criteria in mind, I see two players whose performance plus their contract situation equals a possible extension for beyond the 2019 season.DE Jerry HughesThe veteran defensive end should be a priority for the Bills, as his play has been excellent throughout his time in Buffalo. While his lack of sacks would be seen as a dark mark against him in some circles, his overall production has been fantastic. Hughes had 20 sacks in 2013 and 2014, his first two seasons in Buffalo. He signed a five-year, $45 million contract extension, and has totaled 22 sacks in the four years since. Part of that is due to a change in the roster—in 2013 and 2014, teams had Mario Williams to game plan for, but since then, it’s been Hughes as Buffalo’s top-dog on the edge—and part of that has been a result of multiple scheme changes. In Sean McDermott’s defensive scheme, Hughes is asked to set the edge and play contain far more often than he was while playing under defensive coordinators Mike Pettine and Jim Schwartz Color Rush Thomas Sweeney Jersey , who asked their edge guys to attack early and often. While head coach Rex Ryan favored an attacking defense, as well, Hughes was used more often as a stand-up rusher, and he also was used in coverage at times. Hughes has done everything well over the last few years as a Buffalo Bill. He has improved dramatically as a run defender, he has decreased the number of penalties assessed against him (especially of the personal foul variety), and he has been a valuable emotional leader on a young defense. This is the kind of player you reward with a contract extension rather than allowing him to test the market, especially at a time when the team has plenty of salary cap space. Hughes is by no means broke, as his $10.4 million salary cap hit in 2019 is the second-highest number on the team. Although it isn’t necessary, the Bills could also seek some relief on the upcoming season’s salary cap by extending Hughes, pushing some of his 2019 bonus money into future years in order to add cap space this season. If Hughes is interested in staying in Buffalo, the Bills should open a conversation with his representation about keeping him here. Hughes is still highly productive, and he is relatively young for his position, as he does not turn 31 until August. A contract of three to four years that averages right around what he makes now would be more than fair for a productive pass rusher Youth Thomas Sweeney Jersey , and it would not cripple the Bills in future years given their cap flexibility.K Stephen HauschkaYes, Hausch-money had a poor end to the season, missing five of his final 11 field goals. In fact, his misses against the Miami Dolphins when the Bills traveled to South Beach were the difference in the game—Buffalo lost 21-17, and Hauschka missed a field goal and an extra point in the contest. Much of his problem, of course, came as a result of a dirty block thrown by Henry Anderson of the New York Jets during Buffalo’s loss against New York in Week 14. Overall, Hauschka made 22-of-28 field goals, hitting on a long of 54 yards. He also made 25-of-26 extra points on the season. Hauschka turns 34 in June, but kickers can last a whole lot longer than anyone else due to the lack of contact at the position (well, except for when 300-pound defensive linemen decide to level them). A fair extension for Hauschka would be worth exploring, as his leg strength and accuracy when healthy are both huge bonuses for a team that should be on its way up in 2019 and beyond. Signing him for two to three years would make sense for both sides.Honorable Mention: Shaq LawsonHis is an interesting case—Lawson is technically under team control, but via the fifth-year option on his rookie contract Womens Thomas Sweeney Jersey , which would pay him a sum that is probably more than he’s worth. Should general manager Brandon Beane try to extend him anyway, bypassing the option? Would Lawson prefer to test the market if Buffalo won’t exercise the option? This situation is worth monitoring throughout the off-season. We take our best guess at which defender will lead the Buffalo Bills in tackles in 2019" OpinionWho will lead the 2019 Buffalo Bills in tackles?New,12commentsWe take our best guess at which defender will lead the Buffalo Bills in tackles in 2019EDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:Who will lead the 2019 Buffalo Bills in tackles?TwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailAs the Buffalo Bills continue to mold the team in the hopes of building a contender, it’s likely new faces will take the spotlight. One measure that has always been fun to peek at is total tackles. Let’s make a best guess on who will lead the 2019 version of the Buffalo Bills in this stat. <hr class="p-entry-hr" id="4Dgyz8">Unlikely to lead the team in tacklesAnyone on the defensive lineAny cornerbackWhile it would make sense that the guys close to the line are in a great spot to rack up tackles, it’s simply not the case. The leading tackler on the line last year was Jerry Hughes with 37. Corners fared better, with Tre’Davious White notching 54. Neither of those numbers are remotely near the neighborhood of team leader. These results are pretty representative of the McDermott-led defense as well. These guys have no shot at the tackle title. It could happen Micah HydeLorenzo AlexanderNone of these candidates are all that likely, but there’s an outside chance one could lead the team in tackles. Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer often swap roles to confuse opponents. Hyde typically lags behind Poyer (hint for the next section), but it wouldn’t be too crazy for Hyde to have a spike. Lorenzo Alexander plays the tackle-rich position of linebacker (another hint) and had the fourth most tackles on the team last year. Consider that Alexander also played a lot of snaps at defensive tackle, which typically results in fewer tackles (and kind of makes that position a misnomer). A shift back to more more linebacker duties could cause an increase. Prime candidatesTremaine EdmundsMatt MilanoJordan PoyerThe positions of safety, corner, and linebacker have starters that ordinarily aim for and reach 100% of snaps. This helps volume stats like tackles considerably and is a main reason that a linebacker has led Sean McDermott’s defenses in tackles for four years straight. Usually it’s the middle linebacker, to be specific. Luke Kuechly, Preston Brown Authentic Thomas Sweeney Jersey , and Tremaine Edmunds have all been leading tacklers under McDermott. In 2016 Thomas Davis beat out Kuechly by four tackles (two solo, two assists). The Thomas Davis precedent opens the door for Matt Milano to be a candidate. In 2017 the combination of Milano and Ramon Humber combined for 126 tackles, which was within striking distance of Preston Brown’s 144 that year and higher than Edmunds’s 121 last season.Jordan Poyer has a bit higher difficulty, but is the only non-linebacker with the potential to lead the team in tackles. Poyer had 100 last year and 95 in 2017. McDermott-led leading tacklers in the last four years have fallen as far as 106 tackles. It wouldn’t take much for Poyer to add a few extra tackles. Combine that with a down year for linebackers and it could be the perfect storm. Best guessThere shouldn’t be any guesses that predict anyone other than Tremaine Edmunds. Linebackers dominate the tackle charts, with every tackler in the top ten coming from this position group. It’s not until player 14 that you find a non-linebacker (Antoine Bethea, safety). And it’s not until you get past the 20th highest-rated player in total tackles that you find any regularity of non-linebackers amassing tackles. The Buffalo Bills’ 4-3 scheme highlights the “middle” linebacker position, making Edmunds the easy choice.

Baker Mayfield’s only interaction with former coach Hue Jackson was an icy stare.Mayfield threw three touchdown passes to thrill a sellout Briean Boddy-Calhoun Jersey , holiday-spirited crowd that came out to boo Jackson, and rookie Nick Chubb ran for 112 yard as the Cleveland Browns beat the Cincinnati Bengals 26-18 on Sunday to sweep their southern Ohio neighbors for the first time since 2002.Article continues below ...“Quite honestly, I couldn’t care about what happened in the past,” Mayfield said. “It is about this year and we won. We are moving forward.”The No. 1 pick in this year’s draft continued his stellar rookie season, one that took off after Jackson was fired by the Browns on Oct. 29. Mayfield has thrown 24 TD passes, third most in NFL history by a rookie and just two shy of the record shared by Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson. With their fifth win in six games, the Browns (7-7-1) improved to 5-2 under interim coach Gregg Williams, who has gone from long shot to legitimate candidate to become Cleveland’s next coach. It’s only the second time since 2007 that the Browns have won at least seven games. The Bengals (6-9), on the other hand, are disintegrating under coach Marvin Lewis. They lost for the sixth time in seven games and are assured of finishing last in the AFC North, a spot the Browns have occupied every season since 2011.Cincinnati made it interesting as Jeff Driskel threw two TD passes in a two-minute stretch to get the Bengals close. However, Mayfield connected with tight end David Njoku for 66 yards just before the two-minute warning and the Browns ran out the clock.Following the long completion Joe Schobert Color Rush Jersey , Mayfield jogged past Jackson standing on the sideline and stared at his former coach, whom he called “fake” after their matchup last month in Cincinnati.Mayfield playfully denied he was showing up Jackson.“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said.Told that the exchange was blowing up on social media, Mayfield said, “That’s all right. We won.”Lewis spent little time discussing what went wrong, holding a news conference that lasted just over a minute.“We came into this season thinking, ‘We can win this division,'” Driskel said. “You have to look at yourself and ask, ‘What can I do to prevent this next week or next season?'”Mayfield has Browns fans convinced there are glory days ahead. He challenged Clevelanders to fill FirstEnergy Stadium for the home finale, and they did show with a surge in ticket sales this week. The Browns were officially eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday. That hardly dampened the enthusiasm around a team that has recovered from a 0-16 season and become one of the league’s best stories in 2018.Mayfield’s the main reason. In the fourth quarter, fans chanted “Ba-ker, Ba-ker” after he scampered 10 yards. Moments later https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Ricardo-Louis-Jersey , they were roaring again after Mayfield stretched to reach for a first down before being shoved hard out of bounds by defensive end Carlos Dunlap, triggering a sideline skirmish near Cleveland’s bench.“It has been a good run,” Mayfield said. “Obviously, we would love to be in the playoffs, but like I said earlier in the year, you know that you have to go through some tough times to see the brighter end of it.”NO PASSING GRADEDriskel, making his fourth start for the injured Andy Dalton, was sacked three times and under duress all day. He completed two passes for 3 yards in the first half, when the Bengals had minus-15 yards passing.TRICK AND TREATBrowns offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens went into his bag of tricks to set up Cleveland’s second TD. On first down, the Browns ran a pass off a reverse with wide receiver Jarvis Landry threading a 63-yard pass — the ball traveled more than 50 yards in the air — to Breshad Perriman. Two plays later, Mayfield rolled right and found just enough space to throw a scoring pass to Darren Fells.“I need to ice up my shoulder,” joked Landry.ROOKIE RECORDChubb and set the franchise rookie rushing record for a season David Njoku Jersey , previously held by Trent Richardson.STELLAR STARTMayfield has thrown at least one TD pass in each of his 12 starts. He trails only St. Louis’ Kurt Warner (23 from 1999-00) and Minnesota’s Brad Johnson (15 from 1996-97) for the most consecutive starts with a scoring pass to begin a career.MIXON MILESTONEBengals running back Joe Mixon came in leading the AFC in yards rushing and attempts and needing 5 yards to reach 1,000. He got them on his first carry, a 6-yard run in the first quarter. Mixon is the first Cincinnati back to reach the plateau since Jeremy Hill (2014).INJURIESBengals: LB Vontaze Burfict played most of the first half before going out with a concussion. He came in listed as questionable with a head injury that forced him to miss practice. … Starting CB Dre Kirkpatrick hurt his right shoulder in the first quarter and did not return.Browns: Pro Bowl rookie cornerback Denzel Ward is back in concussion protocol after getting hurt in the fourth quarter. Ward had just returned after missing the previous two games with a head injury.UP NEXTBengals:At Pittsburgh on Sunday.Browns: Finish season at Baltimore on Sunday. The Browns learned on Thursday that they won’t be facing Jets quarterback Sam Darnold on Monday night because Darnold has been diagnosed with mononucleosis and will be out of the lineup indefinitely.Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens was asked if the switch from Darnold to Trevor Siemian would lead to a change in preparation for the game. Kitchens said it wouldn’t because the Browns have more than enough to worry about when it comes to getting their own house in order.“It was very evident, we don’t need to worry about who’s playing, who’s not playing,” Kitchens said, via the . “We’re going to prepare like we prepare. Nothing at all [will change]. We’re going to be focused on our preparation during the week the same as we would’ve been before. We’re going to try to get after the quarterback just like we did before. We try to affect the quarterback every way that we can, through coverage, through pressure.”Kitchens added that Siemian “can play” and the Broncos went 13-11 in games that he started over the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

GREEN BAY Bart Starr Jersey , Wis. — The Green Bay Packers find themselves in unfamiliar territory, with no playoff berth to chase but quarterback Aaron Rodgers healthy enough to play in the final two games of a going-nowhere season.More Packers coverageBucks’ Wes Matthews loves Wisconsin, is a Vikings fanPreview: Packers look to slow Vikings’ revitalized run gameTop Tweets: Yelich thanks fans for support after season-ending injuryAmos sparks rebuilt Packers defense in debutPackers to be tested again by familiar foe in Zimmer, VikingsIf interim head coach Joe Philbin has anything to say about it, anyone who is healthy enough to play – including Rodgers – will play next weekend against the New York Jets despite the circumstances.Rodgers has played all season with a left knee injury sustained in the season opener in September. He said he also injured his groin during the Packers’ 24-17 loss to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field, though the quarterback quickly added he wants to play in the final two games, regardless of the risk. It’s in line with the message Philbin delivered to the team Monday afternoon.“In the general sense, my philosophy is football players are paid to play football games Ray Nitschke Color Rush Jersey , and football coaches are paid to coach football games,” Philbin said. “Obviously, we have to go through the week and we would never put any player out there that wasn’t physically ready to go. But that’s my general philosophy and overall philosophy – whether it’s Aaron Rodgers or anybody else.“We’re the Green Bay Packers, we’re a football team and we’re in the business of winning football games, and we want all our players who are healthy to contribute to the overall success of the team. Period,” Philbin added. The loss to Chicago clinched a second straight losing season for Green Bay (5-8-1). Asked if he expected the team to use the final two games to take a look at young quarterback DeShone Kizer, Rodgers said that he “for sure” wants to play.Rodgers recalled thinking he might get to play late in the 2005 season, when he was a rookie first-round pick backing up Brett Favre and the Packers were 3-11 with two games to go.“I remember ‘Favrey’ came in late in the season and said https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Reggie-White-Jersey , ‘Well, you’re probably going to get a chance to play here,'” Rodgers recounted. “Didn’t happen.”Rodgers enters the final two games having thrown for 3,974 yards, but with the second-lowest completion percentage in his 11 years as Packers starter (61.7 percent). With just 23 touchdown passes, Rodgers is on pace for the fewest he’s had in a season in which he was healthy enough to play all year.“Nobody’s talked to me about (not playing). I want to play, though, so I’m expecting to start and play Aaron Rodgers Jersey ,” Rodgers said. “I’d like to be out there and lead us the last two weeks.”NOTES: Philbin did not have an update on RB Aaron Jones, who left Sunday’s loss with a knee injury. “We’re going to have to see what his status will be,” Philbin said. “Hopefully he’ll be ready to play.” The Packers had only one other true halfback on the roster against the Bears, Jamaal Williams, who carried 12 times for 55 yards and a touchdown. . The team claimed RB Kapri Bibbs off waivers from the Redskins. Bibbs carried 20 times for 101 yards and three touchdowns for Washington this season and also caught 13 passes for 102 yards and a score. . Rookie reserve OL Alex Light was suspended one game for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, the league announced Monday. Light, who has played only three snaps on offense this season, is eligible to return to the active roster on Dec. 24. Is the Green Bay Packers’ head coaching job really less appealing than the opportunity to lead the Cleveland Browns? Some would have you believe that is the case. his way through a good number of the league’s 32 teams on his pre-draft visits.Gary said last month that the Raiders Clayton Geathers Jersey , 49ers, Jets, Giants and Bengals were on his list of visits and he updated his itinerary during an appearance on this week. That list includes Friday’s local pro day for the Lions and several others.“I just got back from seeing the Jaguars,” Gary said. “Next visit is gonna be to the Raiders. I gotta see Seattle, Bengals, Bills, Detroit. I have a couple more teams too.”Gary called it a “blessing” to sit down and meet with teams to discuss his football career. That includes questions about why his numbers for the Wolverines weren’t gaudier.“Most of the teams understand me as a player, but it is the question, and they just wanna know why,” Gary said. “The three years I was at Michigan Nate Hairston Color Rush Jersey , we had the No. 1 defense two years in a row. You don’t have that if you don’t have people playing their responsibilities or playing football how they’re supposed to play football. That’s how I answer that question. At the end of the day, the film is gonna speak for itself.”The general feeling is that Gary’s film and potential will make him a first-round pick, although opinions vary about just where he will wind up coming off the board.: Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports the Colts are also visiting with Gary. One of the season’s biggest stories for the Indianapolis Colts has been the improvement from the offensive line. Chris Ballard used two of his top three picks on highly rated guard prospects. He also made some shrewd free agent signings to shore up what had long been a glaring weakness. One player who has played a significant role in the line’s transformation is Braden Smith. When he was selected in the early second round, fans assumed that he would be slotted in at right guard, and that he would eventually become the long-term starter there. Surprisingly, he looked good in limited action during the preseason at right tackle and carried that over to the regular season when he received his shot due to injuries early in the season.Smith has his weaknesses, as do each of the players on the offensive line, but he has proven to be particularly effective at combating speed rushers on the edge and pulling down the line to block in the ground game. He was able to maintain his effectiveness pulling but struggled considerably containing the edge rush.Let’s take a look. After five clean games, the Indianapolis Colts offensive line finally allowed an official sack. Braden Smith (#72) was unable to keep up with Cameron Wake (#91) as he came around the edge to knock the ball out of Andrew Luck’s hands. It is worth noting that Marlon Mack (#25) stayed in, looking to his left for a possible blitz https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Braden-Smith-Jersey , and that his feet collided with Smith, affecting his balance. It is hard to say whether the slight collision with Mack was the primary cause for the sack or that the outcome would have been the same without it, but Smith’s struggles throughout the game indicate the latter. Here, Smith is again unable to handle Wake’s speed around the edge. You can see at the second pause that Smith has failed to contain. You shouldn’t see his jersey number so clearly from this angle if his block is effective. It appears that Smith is ineffective for one of two reasons. The first, he is slow to mirror Wake’s movement as he attempts to get depth in the backfield. Strange, since this has been one of his strengths all season. The second, Wake gets three steps without receiving any contact. This allows Wake to initiate contact with a full head of steam and makes it harder for Smith to effectively counter.Either way, the struggles continued throughout the day.As with the previous play, Smith gives up the edge and is so late to engage that Charles Harris (#90) is already turning the corner. Right guard Mark Glowinski (#64) is also pushed far enough into the backfield that Luck ends up throwing around him to get a pass away. While Harris is unable to get a hit on Luck, Smith again fails to win on the edge. As with one of our previous clips Jabaal Sheard Jersey , we shouldn’t see Smith’s face from this camera angle, let alone his inside shoulder. He loses so badly that he has to chase Harris to maintain a block.Smith faces off with Wake and again loses on the edge. Wake hits Luck and the Colts were very fortunate that this wasn’t another sack or a possible interception. We have seen two previous interceptions this season where Luck felt pressure and had to sling the ball opposite his initial read, resulting in disaster.Another area of Smith’s game that will need work as he develops is reach or second-level blocks in the run game. We have highlighted in previous film rooms that Smith needs to take better angles to be effective in this area. On this play, Smith comes out of his stance with his legs too wide to effectively explode into the running lane. He also takes too straight of a path toward Raekwon McMillan (#52) who has escaped by the time he arrives.McMillan ends up making the tackle. If Smith gets there, the outcome could have been different. As Zach Hicks pointed out in his film room breakdown of Evan Boehm, Marlon Mack could have also helped himself by reading the cutback lane and rushing for a big gain. At the end of the clip, note that Jack Doyle is effectively sealing the edge against Jerome Baker (#55). Rest assured that Eric Ebron will not be as effective in this area. This part of Doyle’s game could possible be missed more than any other.Smith is again unable to get a body on McMillan on this play. I did note that he trips on Le’Raven Clark’s left leg as he attempts to get to the second level. This is the primary reason the block is ineffective but doesn’t change the fact that if Smith seals McMillan here, Mack has an inside and outside lane to choose and only defensive backs in front of him.I am not highlighting this play to demonstrate Braden Smith’s failure as a blocker. Frankly, Akeem Spence’s penetration is due to a couple of things that were outside of Smith’s control. First, Smith has to honor the edge rush from Charles Harris. Eric Ebron is no run blocker and effectively only serves to push Harris right into the running lane. Second Pierre Desir Color Rush Jersey , Mark Glowinski releases Spence early to get to the second level. It was an ineffective hand-off between the linemen. Third, and most important, this is a horrible play-call. This is the first play of the Colts game-wining field goal drive. Miami was sending their defensive linemen aggressively up field to disrupt the offense. The Dolphins had no choice but to play the run on the way to the quarterback. Reich has had a good season overall but plays like this at key moments will haunt the team in the future if he’s not careful. Our final clip demonstrates one of Smith’s primary strengths. It is a beautiful thing to see him smoothly work behind the line on the pull to flash in the hole at just the right time. Jerome Baker has no chance and Nyheim Hines gets safety Reshad Jones (#20) one-on-one in space. ANALYSISThis was not a particularly effective game for the offensive line as a whole. Zach Hicks already showed some of the areas where Evan Boehm struggled filling in for Ryan Kelly, Quenton Nelson was flagged for three penalties — two were accepted, and Smith had a rough day.It is difficult to figure out the root cause for Smith’s struggles on the edge. It is odd that one of his best abilities this season was so exposed. Hopefully he can figure things out after watching tape, whether he needs to correct his footwork or needs to recover from an injury that hampered his quickness on the edge.

RENTON Will Dissly Color Rush Jersey , Wash. (AP) — When Russell Wilson and his representatives started negotiations with the Seattle Seahawks on a contract extension, they were looking far beyond five more seasons.Having turned 30 late last season, Wilson tried to project into the next decade and the chances of playing his entire career with one team.“The next deal was going to be the place where, ‘Hey, if we’re going to be in Seattle, wherever it’s going to be, I want to make sure that’s where I’m going to be for the next 10-12 years hopefully,'” Wilson said Wednesday, a day after signing the $140 million, four-year contract extension that made him the highest-paid player in the NFL. “That was kind of my mindset, from (age) 30 to 40. And then you reassess Michael Dickson Color Rush Jersey , you add on, and everything else. But the reality was for the next 10 years.”His new deal will cover half that 10-year window. He has the highest yearly average salary at $35 million per season. He has the highest signing bonus ($65 million) and guaranteed money ($107 million) in league history. He’s under contract through the 2023 season. The negotiations wrapped up just before midnight as Monday clicked over into Tuesday. It was the deadline Wilson set for getting a long-term extension done before accepting the likelihood he had only three more seasons in Seattle. The deadline was real in Wilson’s mind.“I have an obsession with football. I just want to play the game. I just want to be able to focus on that. I remember the first time, (with) the other contract, it was one of those things that took us all the way to the summertime, right before training camp — literally to 11:50 that night and everything else. The next day, we were practicing,” Wilson said. “For me, and for everyone involved really, the whole organization, it was really more so of a ‘Hey, let’s make sure we don’t have to drag out this whole process.'”All sides agreed the previous negotiations dragged on for far too many months. General manager John Schneider said the negotiations should have been wrapped up before reaching the cusp of training camp in 2015.This negotiation went almost to the deadline before an agreement was reached. Wilson guessed it was about 11:50 p.m. Monday when he got the phone call from agent Mark Rodgers. The deal was done and only needed the quarterback’s approval. The no-trade clause Alex McGough Color Rush Jersey , which means Wilson must approve any possible deal, was the final kicker.“We talked about the idea of a no-trade clause just because we really wanted to be here. That was the thing we were really excited about and that’s kind of what sealed the deal for us. I was really fired up about it,” Wilson said. That wasn’t the case several hours earlier. Wilson showed up for the first day of Seattle’s offseason workouts Monday and he left the facility that afternoon uncertain whether he would return the next day with a new deal. There had been progress in the negotiations but no guarantees of reaching an agreement. Wilson and coach Pete Carroll spoke before the QB left the building.“We said, listen we’re getting there, that’s for sure. … I wasn’t concerned because I knew at that point it was going to be what it’s going to be and hopefully it was here and hopefully we could do something special,” Wilson. While the day was mostly celebratory, there was a twinge of sadness Wednesday as well. Wilson’s deal was the first major signing by the team since the passing of owner Paul Allen last fall. Schneider became choked up briefly, saying, “This is a day that Paul Allen would have been extremely proud of,” and later recalled a story of the day Wilson was drafted in 2012.“Paul called in and was like, ‘So you took the little guy huh?’ And I was like Byron Maxwell Color Rush Jersey , ‘Yeah, I did, I did Paul. We did. We did.’ And he just hung up,” Schneider recalled. “I gave the phone back to Pete and he was like, ‘What did he say?’ and I was like, ‘He didn’t say anything, man.’ He was super fired up.”Wilson, Carroll and Schneider all praised the involvement of Allen’s sister, Jody, the chairman of the Seahawks organization, in making sure one of the centerpieces of Seattle’s success over the past seven seasons wasn’t going anywhere.“Russ has ignited an energy about the games that we play and the style from the offensive side Sebastian Janikowski Color Rush Jersey ,” Carroll said. “I thought it was really important for us. We think we have a really good team and we’re really fired up about it, and to be able to maintain this continuity was extremely important for us.” RENTON, Wash. (AP)The Seattle Seahawks have signed five tryout players following their rookie minicamp, highlighted by wide receiver Damore’ea Stringfellow.Seattle announced the roster moves Monday. Stringfellow started his college career at Washington before being dismissed from the team and finishing at Mississippi. Stringfellow caught 46 passes for 716 yards and six touchdowns in his final year at Ole Miss. He was originally signed by Miami before being released and spent part of last year on the New York Jets practice squad.Seattle also signed free safety Tevon Mutcherson, center Marcus Henry, and tackles Nick Callender and Avery Young. Mutcherson played collegiately at Central Florida with Seahawks Shaquill and Shaquem Griffin, and spent part of last season with Houston.Seattle released wide receivers Ka’Raun White and Taj Williams, linebackers Jason Hall and Paul Dawson, and center Brad Lundblade.—
